How appropriate that Straw would be at a field sponsered by Coke?

Just received a copy of Straw’s new book that I had on order. Got Darling’s too along with ‘Fear In Flushing’ which I hadn’t read yet.
Trying to decide which one to read first…..
Caught a little of the Mets classic tonight on SNY. One of Doc’s games in Aug of ’86. Man, those years with Doc and Strawberry when they were at their peak, especially ’86….
With Johan and Wright and Reyes and Beltran and Krod, I feel like we’re only missing that one bat to have that good a team again….

Keith said he never played w/ guys as talented as Reyes and Wright. Those two are gonna break so many Mets records, it’s crazy.
Ron Darling mentioned on yesterdays game how we was incredibly upset (my words) when he learned doc would miss 87′ because they were hoping to go on a three to four year stretch of winning the WS. I hope the Mets can do that w/ this core. I do think we need another Sper or one of the guys to start dominating. We’ve seen Pelf and Perez do it.
How people can discuss breaking up the core is nuts.

lol, thats awesome.
Straw was on Mad Dogs show a week or two ago. They were talking about some of his big home runs, and it was really cool to hear him discuss how excited he ogt with some of them.
In ’87 I was at a game when they were playing the Reds and he hit this bomb where there was this collective ughhh from the crowd. I was expecting the ball to hit the scoreboard but it went just to the left and landed on a roof of a tour bus. People just went nuts. Those were good days to be a Mets fan.
