Post game: Dodgers 2, Mets 1

  • The Dodgers completed a three game sweep of the New York Mets defeating them by a score of 2-1.  J.J. Putz (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning on a sharp single to left by Russell Martin that plated Orlando Hudson.
  • Jose Reyes left the game after grounding out to 2nd base in the top of the 3rd inning.  He aggravated his calf injury attempting to beat the throw to 1st.  Ramon Martinez replaced him at SS and leadoff.  After the game, Met manager Jerry Manuel stated that Reyes’s status for the Mets’ next game, Friday at Boston, was uncertain, but that Reyes would travel with the team to Boston and undergo treatment with the Mets’ training staff.
  • Daniel Murphy made his first major league start at 1B, but his surprisingly stellar defense throughout the game was outweighed by his 0-4 with 2 strikeouts and a double play at the plate.  Murphy left 7 men on base.
  • Met starter Livan Hernandez pitched well, allowing only 1 run on an Andre Ethier sacrifice fly in the first inning, and overall 7 hits and 1 BB in 7 innings pitched, with 2 K.
  • The Mets have now lost 4 consecutive games after starting this road trip 3-0.
  • The Dodgers are 17-3 at home so far this season.
  • It was Casey Blake bobble-head night, and the Dodger third baseman and number 8 hitter thrilled his many fans by singling and walking in 3 plate appearances.
  • Fake President Dennis Haysbert, and pseudo-celebrities Arsenio Hall and Jon Lovitz were seen in the crowd. 000005-dennis_haysbert.jpg

  • Actor Matthew McConaughey threw out the ceremonial first pitch, but I did not see it so I cannot say whether it or he was high.matthew_mcconaughey-1-we_are_marshall.jpg
  • The probable starters for the Mets’ next game are Johan Santana (5-2, 1.36) and the expected to be activated from the disabled list Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1, 12.79).

  • I would love to have left spaces between each bullet point, but I am too dumb and tired to figure out how.  Good night!

I am trying, but twice I did a whole big write up beneath a box score and it vanished. It appears as if on my 3rd attempt at least the text showed up!

Well it’s 2:47am but I added a little flair with the pics and I somehow managed to get the box score to show up, I don’t know what changed to make that happen. I am unable to figure out how to leave line spaces between my bullet points, so that info and any other constructive criticism will be appreciated Dirty and TRS. Thanks again for letting me learn on the job, I had fun! Good night.
