1/2 Of The Tag Champs May Not Be Available

cb

As you may know, Carlos Beltran DH’ed the whole series in boston. According to Manuel, Carlos was suffering from a brusied knee. There are several reports that indicate that Beltran may not be available tonight. While im sure his replacement Jeremy Reed will be fine in CF, its the offense that will suffer. Beltran for the month of May is batting .337avg/.436obp/.593slg/4HR/16RBI/6SB. Im sure there are many players in MLB that would kill to have that line but the Mets cannot afford to be without this production. Granted its more important beltran is healthy and if theres a series you would want to sit him to give him a breather, might as well be the nationals. I just hope this doesnt lead to anything more serious. Also to note, Churchy may be on his way to the DL with a hip issue and theres no 100% indication that Reyes will play today. Martinez is dealing with a back issue and most likely, the reletivly inexperianced Fernando Tatis will start at SS. What a season its been so far….all of this and we are ONLY 1.5 games out of first place. Talk about grit.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

What a complete failure Omar Minaya is. He didn’t bother to consider the possibility that Jose Reyes, Alex Cora and Ramon Martinez would all be injured at the same time and trade for Hanley Ramirez to stash in AA just in case. Fired.

He didn’t bother to consider that Carlos Delgado would be injured and trade for Albert Pujols to stash in AAA just in case. Fired.

He re-signed Oliver “Wild Boy” Perez instead of trading for Roy Halladay. Fired.

Sure he traded for J.J. Putz and signed Frankie Rodriguez for the bullpen, but why is Joe Nathan still in Minnesota? Fired.

    Fired. Fired. Fired!

I sense no sarcasm in there whatsoever…

Ha! Omar should have known better, right? Should have stocked the minors with a complete ML team ready to go…..

You guys want a real laugh check out the kiddies at the Mets.com messege boards. One post was “The Mets are the worst organization in all of baseball” because of the state of the team right now. Supossedly written by a Mets fan. Unreal.

        1. metsfan4decades

It’s what I term that ‘instant gratification’ mindset. They want what they want and they want it now. They don’t understand baseball at all. It’s a long season and strategy is the art of the game. I’m patiently standing by, waiting to see what Omar deems are the most important needs right now and how he’s going to get them.

Trs, Dirty or Mrose, I was an author in “The Real Dirty…” but dont seem to be one here. Maybe my writing skills were just horrid or maybe just overlooked. lol Let me know.

I was going to ask the same question…I have not contributed yet—CRAZY busy lately—but plan to. No rush and no pressure at all, but I would love the honor if it is still being offered to me….

And I thank you AGAIN sir!!

  4. kingman26

Guys, I have to thank you for liberating me from the other site. I went over there to check what is up, and Matt makes a post about the comments, which has this sentence towards the beginning: “I think part of the problem may be there is 520,000 comments in the archives of MetsBlog.com, which is a lot.” There IS 520,000 comments, not there ARE…my 5 year old niece can write better than he can.

And the last open comment thread has comments about the 2008 “choke job” and the comically negative and unrealistic oleosmirf AGAIN whining about what a bad job Omar did with the farm system…yes, EVERY other team has at least 5 or 6 successful major league shortstops at the major league and AAA level waiting to step in.

THANK YOU AGAIN for liberating me from the mediocrity, poor writing, poor thinking, and sea of whining pessimistic nonsense which is the coin of the realm at Metsblog, which may as well be re-titled WFAN.com.

    1. QnsNative718

Agreed. The way I see it, the smart Metsblog readers have made the switch. We are the Resistence, Brock. We are the Resistence. lol

      1. kingman26

LOL! I like it! I am VERY proud to be part of the Resitance, which generally comprises those who fight for what is better and triumph against the odds!

As the French say, “Viva la Resistance!!”

      2. kingman26

We are George Washington and Patrick Henry! We are Simon Bolivar! We are Luke Skywalker and Han Solo!!

      3. dirtysanchez

lmao thats what it feels like though

    2. metsfan4decades

Ditto from me as well. As I’ve said on previous threads, I see this as a good thing for me. Didn’t realize how bad the doom and gloom got until we were forced out, I got to read the highly entertaining and factual posts here, then went back and read the recent posts over there. Man, what a difference.

And did you notice once again he’s got problems. Said when it’s fixed only 99% will be able to comment. So I guess we’re the 1% he considered expendable – hahahaha.
Until he looks at it honestly and is able to admit what the real problem is, he can just expect more of the same.

Hope all are trying to enjoy this holiday today and beautiful weather. ‘See you’ all tonight for the game between the Nats and our ‘walking wounded’….

      1. Mr North Jersey

99% yeah right, sometimes I wonder if Matt maybe just pulls these numbers out of thin air. In any event if a drop in posts also mean a drop in hits I wonder how long before he starts singing another tune?

        1. metsfan4decades

In the short term, I don’t believe he’ll suffer all that much.

In the long term though, with no reply option, continued mistakes, continued on again/off again comments off, and other such problems, many might drift off to a more accurate and user friendly site (such as this, I hope!).

Those that were interested in actual debates on all things Mets with fellow Met fans will have to look elsewhere for that now since his site doesn’t really lend itself to that anymore. And…if some are like me that constant whining, neurosis, bipolar and reactionary drivel some constantly posted over there will just continue to annoy.

Not that it matters but thought I’d ask: The server for this blog is located in the central time zone? I noticed the time is an hour behind eastern daylight savings time….

    1. mrose

actually its eastern, but when i set the time last night, I didn’t notice that wordpress doesn’t update auto for DST for now..so i just did it

      1. GravediggerHebner

        Sweet, ‘real’ time!

      2. metsfan4decades

Good deal, Mrose. Thanks. Not that it was a big deal to me….

  6. Mr North Jersey

Nice I see the reply function is working again.

    1. kingman26

And nice to see you here Mr North!
