One Man Short?

Injury Games

Anyone else tired of the injury games the Mets always seem to play?

It seems like we always get conflicting information and before we know it the player ends up on the DL

AFTER we have played short handed for MULTIPLE games.

Now we are doing it all over again with Reyes and Church.

What is gained by cutting off one hand to save the other?

Amazing that we’re winning games with the bench so sorely depleted. You just know at some point this is going to come back to bite us.

We started out the year with what I consider a very strong bench with the Sheff, Murph, Tatis platoons and Reed, Cora and Castro.
Now, I don’t think we even have a bench, per say – as bench players – and heck, even career minor leaguers are in there as regulars.

Have no idea how we are winnign games right now.

F-Mart watch: 1-for-5, HR, 2RBI in an 8-7 win over Lehigh Valley. FYI, the two run home run came in the 6th inning with his team trailing by one run.

I’m of the mindset that unless Church goes on the DL, there is no point in calling up F-Mart right now. He’s so young and it serves no purpose to bring him up unless he gets guaranteed playing time. He’s just starting to hit finally in triple A. Does that translate to the ML this soon? I just don’t know….

my pov is…do they really need fmart. Lets say church goes on the DL right. We have pagan/reed/shef/tatis that can man the outfield. Do we REALLY need another outfielder to compete in that log jam. I think the mets would be better served by an IF to be honest.

Agreed, but I also think the Mets are better served with giving Reed fewer starts. With Beltran’s knee ailing and Church basically wasting a roster spot right now as well, I think it’s a good time to put Church on the DL, rest Beltran for a few days, and call up the kid to play right field. I think when he is hot in AAA ball is the time to bring him up. Confidence will be very high.

            Good points.

I guess we’ll be having a different discussion though if Reyes eventually winds up on the DL. Think I heard or read somewhere that if he’s not back to playing by this Friday, it’s probably going to be the DL for him…

you may get your wish if they play their cards right. I heard in a broadcast from SNY, omar is reluctant to bring up malo or somone like that because the would have to protect him much sooner in the rule 5 draft. Im researching that for a piece but since i feel omar wants fmart to play next year fulltime, we might see fmart here before malo.

Can’t say enough about what Sheff has done for this team. He has had a great attitude and has started to produce when given the at bats to do so.

That being said, even he will need a breather every now and then. There will be plenty of opportunities to get F-Mart playing time. Even if it means platooning Church and Sheff.

Just some things I was thinking about during game:

Wow I knew Nats pithing was bad but had no idea they blew 13 saves. I mean if they only blew 3 they are right in the hunt and if they blew zero in first place wow lol

That railing and fans leaving over is going to happen often it seems. Hopefully when the Mets hit the ball they rule it a HR on the field and when opposition hits it they first rule it a double or whatever. This way instant relay is on our side each time lol

I know not all Met Fans watch or follow every game but I get embarassed and want to fight some fans at times i.e, BOOING Bobby Parnell..are u kidding you idiots…Get a clue!!

Putz…of course not ready to give up on him…he’s not necessarily blowing games but it would be nice to see him be the dominant guy we thought we might be getting. I mean show us one dominant inning! I think its almost safe to say he is not that dominant guy we thought. I dont see him and KRod being the dominant 1-2 punch. Maybe this will change.

We can kill Omar on plenty of things but nice pickup on Sheffield. I hope some smarts went behind that decision and it wasn’t just because Omar wanted Manny JR. Hes been GREAT though.

Railing: i agree. hopefully, fans will use common sense and not reach over on obvious balls in play. unless it’s a line drive that you are protecting yourself from, you need to keep your hands away from the ball.

Parnell: booing Parnell is pretty ridiculous. He has been very good for the most part. Everyone is going to have a clunker here and there. His happened to be last night. All is well that ends well.

Putz: nowhere near what i thought he would be. he is more than hitable. although, he did get a tough good save against boston.
