Say what you want about the Mets heart/grit/edge…they are in 1st place. The Mets have over 40 million dollars on the DL list and more injuries than any team in baseball, yet they find themselves on Wednesday night in 1st place. There have been talks about trading the core, Omar’s signing of Sheffield, Mets needing a 2nd pitcher…yet on Wednesday night they find themselves in 1st place. The Mets are given less than a 10% chance to make the playoffs…yet on Wednesday night, they are in first place. The Mets are getting it done by great outings from their SP, a hellova job by the Bullpen and people stepping up on offense such as Gary Sheffield. I hope alot of people are eating crow right now for doubting the heart of this team. I dont think any team, including the “fighting phills” would have been able to do what the Mets have done. The Mets are beating the teams they should beat and are scoring late to deliver that killer blow..all of this WITHOUT the main event players. So the Mets dont have a deep farm system huh….LGM.

‘We will not go quietly into the night’.
That sums it all up about this team right about now. They’ve sure taken it up a notch given the current state of injuries. In the first few weeks or so, we were all commenting about this talented team not ‘clicking’ or playing together as a team. That is all behind them. Everyone is picking up everyone else, all have each other’s back. This is so much fun…
