Introducing The Real Dirty Dugout

dugout

I would like to Introduce a live chat option for met games “The Real Dirty Dugout”. I first became aware of this technology from the wonderful hotfootblog and i always felt it was ideal for live games. The Dugout can be found and accessed next to my story. Its a work in progress and comments are always appreciated. I want this to work so trust me we will do whatever it takes.  Let me know what you guys think and ENJOY!

  2. GravediggerHebner

Does that replace the “game thread?”

    1. trs86

I don’t think so Grave. There are many of us, like ME, who would much rather be on the game thread. However, there are a lot of youngins who like the dugout.

      1. dirtysanchez

        hey lol!
well i am a youngin loll got me there ;p

        1. dirtysanchez

what ill do is make a game thread but leave an option if people want to talk live..technically i think you can be on the game thread and talk live at the same time..

          1. trs86

True, I like both options. Just link to it in the game thread.

By the way, we just added Darknova. Could that be Darkstar?

    1. GravediggerHebner

I’m not certain but I feel like I recognize both of those as separate screen names from the past.

      1. darknova306

yeah, I’m not Darkstar. I posted on Metsblog as Darknova.

good night people…we go go to bed knowing we have a place to stay

    1. baseballmercenaries

      go***

  9. CaseStreet

Wow, and I thought tonight would be uneventful.
    1. Welcome to all that were stranded in limbo. Being on here feels like coming home, doesn’t it?

    2. As for Mattsblog, I can’t be as nice as trs. I don’t care for any explanation. Nor do I expect anything other than Matt to try to weasel/lie his way out of his poor decisions, not after we (the loyal commenters) were treated with utter disregard and disrespect.

I honestly believe this site has made an impact over there, which is why he’s going back on his word (trusted 50) and is trying to play nice. “The lady doth protest too much.”

As the saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of all invention” and thanks to MC’s emotional swings, we have this great site. I hope we all work to make this community better than Mattsblog, not because of any need for revenge, but because we care too much about how we experience the Mets season to allow this site to fail.

    1. dentulous

      +1,

you deserve more than that, but it doesnt look as nice as +1 hehe

    2. dentulous

also, of course it has made an impact. The people I see here are the ones responsible for 90% of all comments in any given discussion on mattsblog. Imagine all the hits we have given him, checking the site for new comments and posts. Thats a nice chunk of support to lose in less than a week.

      1. rustyjr

Is that a impacted wisdom ? LOL

  10. jonnyballgame

This all feels a little bit disingenuous. TRS/Dirty/Mrose don’t let him come over here and do a Q&A. If he wants to respond to us, and try and get our support back, he needs to respond on his own blog. Let him create an open chat on his blog and deal with us there, where it should of been dealt with in the first place.

    1. CaseStreet

      absolutely

    2. prismo

On the other hand, if you look at the hits on this blog, the #1 source for them came from that link on Metsblog.

  11. jonnyballgame

Sure some mets fans are irrational, some are miss informed and some are just looking to start arguments. But the beauty of the system is that we don’t have to communicate with those people. Just ignore them if you don’t like what they are posting. But to ban people for an opinion that you don’t share destroys the spirit of our community. Matt wasn’t just banning belligerent assholes who were attacking other bloggers, he was banning people because he didn’t like what they were posting. And when they asked him why,, he wouldn’t respond. Metsblog promoted itself as an open community where you can speak your mind about the Mets.(we’ve all seen the commercial hundreds of times). Profited from this and then turned its back on us.

With all the money Metsblog receives, he couldn’t just pay someone to moderate the comment section. Send out warnings and then proceed to take action against them. Respecting your fans whether they share your opinion or not should of been his top priority. And almost every time he came to the comment section,, it was to be flippant and defensive.

To the 11 guest we are currently hosting.. if you think we are being unfair, and what we are saying is unjustified.. Say so, lets talk about this

  13. jonnyballgame

I’m going to go out on a limb and talk about what could be the “Core” issue behind all this.

New York tabloid mentality. If every media outlet we have promotes this attitude, the odds are that the readers and listeners are going to follow suit. SNY could create content that would help promote a more positive fan base. But they have been unsuccessful as of yet. The Mets partner Wfan is a major player in all of this. The irrational fan is good for ratings and people who want to get on the air have to be controversial. So if SNY really wants to change the direction of the Mets fanbase, create a talk show during the afternoon and take responsibility for your own franchise. Instead of Crazy Jerry who calls up Wfan and preaches for the firing of Jerry Manuel, you could have the fanbase tuning in on a mature healthy baseball discussion. You don’t give Met fans an option, and they spend all day listening to Mike’d up or reading Headlines in the papers.

If SNY or his sponsors put pressure on Matt to eliminate this type of talk,, then they unfairly targeted his business. Whats said on Metsblog was just people repeating what the heard and read all day in the new york media.

So SNY/Mets if you really care,,, create your own tv/radio call in program and give the Mets fan some options.
