Welcome to the newest NLEastChatter.com Addition: BravesBaseballBlog

nleastchattercommbutton

We now have our 2nd member of the NL East Chatter Community. Matt F of The Braves Baseball Blog has been migrated to http://www.nleastchatter.com/BravesBaseballBlog/ .  The homepage has been updated to reflect his rss feeds, and he is now up and posting at the new site in hopes of bringing the Bravos fans over to our new fan venture.

In just about a week, this has become very real and the whole thing feels like home.

I hope everyone pops over to the new site to say hello to our neighbor, and make sure to tell any Braves fans you know about his site.

braves

I look forward to some spirited debates and Q&A’s about the Braves in the future.

  5. trs86

Now if we can just find ANY Marlins or Nats fans. LOL.

Also, anyone find Mr. Bill or Alex? We need a Phillies blog too.

    1. CaseStreet

      1. rustyjr

        LOL don’t forget philliefanonwallatreet

        1. QnsNative718

Whats funny is that I think I know that guy. Theres a dude who waits for a bus to Jersey down by Wall St. and he always rocks a Phillies cap. Doubts its him, but maybe.

    2. QnsNative718

      ha!

  6. GravediggerHebner

I think it was Steve Zabriskie, who in mid-September 1986, at the conclusion of a Mets game broadcast said:

    The inevitable has finally happened.

  7. QnsNative718

Matt, things are reeeeally coming along, man. Lets keep it rolling.

  8. GravediggerHebner

Am i just paranoid, or does someone always make a new post less than 10 minutes after I make one? 8)

    1. mrose

      hahaha sorry grave

      1. GravediggerHebner

I genuinely consider the announcement of a new member of the NLEastChatter team to be breaking news, and I’m pretty darned excited about it.

    2. trs86

LOL, while Qns has made 3 post and gotten more comments than ANY of us.

  9. metsfan4decades

Nice Braves blog Matt started. I left him a comment wishing him luck. Also told him as a die hard Met fan, he’ll have to pardon me if I don’t wish the Braves any luck – LOL.

    1. trs86

LOL, I am in moderation. Maybe it’s a Matt thing. Sorry Mrose.

      1. GravediggerHebner

Yeah, I left him a “welcome” message on his “story” page and it’s in moderation. Perhaps a good move considering the currently lopsided number of Met fans that just connected to him.

        1. trs86

No doubt. One thing to worry about, we may have to help him get the word out. He did not have a lot of comments YET.

          1. GravediggerHebner

Yeah. I know a guy who lives in GA who has a computer, I’ll let him know to check out BravesBaseballBlog.

          2. trs86

Will the site load properly on a Commodore 64?

          3. rustyjr

            More likely colecovision LOL

          4. GravediggerHebner

I’ll ask him, but the townsfolk come by horseback from miles around to exchange goods and check their email, so it’ll be a while before I hear back.

          5. rustyjr

LOL was matt in the outhouse? Or was he playing “jimmy cracked corn” on the banjo with his toes ?

          6. GravediggerHebner

I heard two banjos, and some pig squealing sounds, so I got out of there pronto.

  10. QnsNative718

    Wait a minute. ANOTHER Matt???

    1. dirtysanchez

      lol yes another one..

  11. dirtysanchez

when is citi field going to get some cheerleaders…call em “citi girls” ;p

    1. trs86

I know, you know we picked that blog for a reason. If you are going to read something about the Braves, it might as well be that. 8)

      1. dirtysanchez

        ;p

  12. Mr North Jersey

So is this Matt I keep hearing M1fournier?

    1. mrose

      yes sir

  13. mrose

i’m checking as to if he meant to have the comments in moderation thing…

    1. trs86

Mrose what did you think about that theme I sent you?

      1. mrose

        checking on it now

  14. mrose

ugh…francessa just used the word grit…said the mets are grittier since reyes went down

    1. trs86

      Grrrrrrr.

      1. rustyjr

He needs something to talk about since he can’t pounce on murph after what happened last night (5 rbis 3 hits)

        1. trs86

And 2 should be errors. But who is counting? LOL.

          1. rustyjr

            That’s the tradeoff LOL

          2. wannybackstra

Fatcessa doesn’t know about those because he doesn’t actually watch the games.

      2. fongy2

        The Sports Doctor!

        What an idiot.

    2. QnsNative718

hahahaha.. Some needs to lace his chicken parm sandwich with some good ‘ole Shut the f#uck up.

      1. rustyjr

LOL anyone ever see a salad near him? Potato egg and cole slaw don’t count

        1. kingman26

Yeah, but the raw cabbage in cole slaw is really good for you, so I doubt Francesspool ever touches it!

          1. rustyjr

Yeah but the mayo !!! Face it fatcessa considers fritos a vegetable LOL

          2. kingman26

            Good point!

I think Francesspool would consider bacon a vegetable!

    3. CaseStreet

we really have to start a FATSO post. I think we can go a good job dispelling his bullsh*t hate speech!

I’d do it if I could find transcripts.

    4. kingman26

The Mets are grittier since Reyes went down!!

Just exactly how low does one’s IQ have to be to believe what that jackass says??

      1. rustyjr

Ask fiya minaya his iq or joe d from the Bronx LOL

      2. metsfan4decades

Low. I normally cannot listen to him. Not so much for the drivel he puts out thre to generate ratings, it’s b/c he CONSTANTLY talks over everyone. It’s the most annoying, rude, obnoxious ranting I’ve ever heard. I used to find myself yelling at the radio saying, ‘will you shut up already and let him talk’!

  15. CaseStreet

    what’s the w3c counter?

    1. trs86

A hit counter I think. Much more advanced in that it only counts IP addresses I think.

      1. QnsNative718

Which I would assume is the best way to truely know how many people we got out there. As oppossed to getting 100 hits from one guy who keeps X’ing out only to come back 5 minutes later.

      2. CaseStreet

        nice

    2. dirtysanchez

hits on this blog i believe(hits meaning the amount of times people visit the site…not hits in the amount of people cerrone paid to kill us all ;p)

      1. rustyjr

LOL matt has his ak47 locked and loaded

    3. GravediggerHebner

I just clicked on it and went to a website that claimed to explain it, which I didn’t read.

      Looked all fancy-schmancy.

Had a “what’s happening now” window which read “Islam vs. Muslim” so I quickly left before being accused of something.

      1. dirtysanchez

        hahaha

        1. rustyjr

          Infidel LOL

          1. CaseStreet

            I love that game

      2. trs86

LOL, that’s what we were discussing in class today.

        1. CaseStreet

trs, do you make your class read entire chapters in class so you can come and comment here?

          1. GravediggerHebner

LMAO. He has them doing a dramatic re-enactment of the first Gulf War. Looks up every once in a while and says “good, good” then goes back to RealDirtyMets.

          2. rustyjr

LOL I was king of the b.s artists when I was on school

  16. jonnyballgame

Mrose get the Braves guys to put a link to this site on his main page.

    1. jonnyballgame

I’m anxious to see North Jersey’s banner up on this site.

      1. Mr North Jersey

I’m just concerned if it will look good dimension wise since we winged it when trying to figure what dimensions work best with site.

        1. trs86

Mr. NJ. We have encountered a small problem. This team does not allow banner pics that we can figure out anyway. Searching for a theme that we like that does. Great work though.

          1. jonnyballgame

So your saying this wordpress theme is the problem? hmmm.. have you found any others that you like trs?

          2. trs86

            Not yet.

  17. fongy2

    Fellas,off topic for a sec..
Who were the 93% who voted on mattsblog last week rooting for the
    Skanks over the illies??
How? oh how could any true,die-hard
Met fan root for them under ANY
    circumstance?? I just dont understand
    it.

    1. QnsNative718

Fongy, you werent around when I wrote a post about that last wknd. You should check it out. We’ve learned from the last 2 yrs that EVERY game matters. The more losses the Phils have, the better shape we’re in.

      1. QnsNative718

        http://realdirtymets.com/2009/05/23/the-lesser-of-two-evils/

        1. GravediggerHebner

Fong take the “way back machine” to 5/23 and check it out, it’s good stuff.

      2. rustyjr

Yeah I have to agree – and I needled all my Yankee “friends” that we held ip our end of the bargin

        1. fongy2

Thanks for the heads up on that,QN718.
          No disrespect
          BUT having dealt with two
          skank dynasties,
          their obnoxious
          fans,their elitist players,
          their lapdog
friends in the media and their
          ownership which
          has tried time
          and again to
ruin our national pasttime, I for
          one couldnt rooy for them
          if they were
          playing Osama’s
          sleeper cell
          team of ringers.
          But maybe I’m
          too old school.
          I come from a
          time where as
a Met fan you rooted for two
          teams,The Mets
          and whoever was
          playin’ the skankees!

          1. kingman26

Yeah, but in the old school days, none of our NL rivals ever played the Skankees in the regular season!!

          2. QnsNative718

            True dat.

    2. dirtysanchez

well..its simple. The yankees are not in our division..the phillies are. If the yanks can make the phillies lose..i think its fine for a mutual truce. We did them a favor by handing 2 losses to the redsox

    3. jonnyballgame

I think its in our blood man. My family comes from the Brooklyn Dodgers and migrated to the Mets in the mid sixties. It was instilled in me as a young child that there is nothing worse than a Yankee or its fanbase. I get about as much enjoyment from a Yankee loss as I do a Mets win. Its sick,, I know, but I can’t help it.

      1. kingman26

It is totally understandable for the older generation…my Dad is almost 72, and from 1941 to 1956, from when he was 4 until he was 19, the Yanks and Dodgers played in the WS SEVEN times and the Yanks won all but 1955.

I mean, 2000 was horrifying enough, but a half dozen of them??

        1. jonnyballgame

I can’t even imagine what it was like for my grandfather. Every year and then finally they win and like 4 years later they were taken away. That really breaks your heart.

          1. kingman26

Yes sir! And, after winning in 55, the damn Yanks beat them again in the 56 WS!

    4. kingman26

Fong buddy, gotta vehemently but very respectfully disagree…hating the Yanks is in my blood, and my Dad really cannot bring himself to root for them, but when they play the Phils or the Braves? I am ABSOLUTELY rooting for the Phils and Braves to lose…NOT for the Yanks to win, but for the Phils or Braves to lose, absolutely and positively.

I mean, would you rather the Yanks have 2 or 3 less wins, and we miss the playoffs??

      1. CaseStreet

we’ll make the playoffs anyway. the phils suck. The yanks on the other hand need to lose every game. they stole tex from us, kingman

        1. kingman26

Agreed buddy, but those Phils stole Raul!

May Tex and Raul BOTH watch the postseason from their pricey easy chairs!

          1. fongy2

            Homey,they didnt
            “steal”
            Ibanez.
            They made him
            an offer.
            I dont recall
            Don O
            ever
            doin’ that.
            Remember,he counldnt
            multitask.

          2. kingman26

Yeah, I think you are right, and Raul signed so quick with Philly, I think that is where he wanted to be. But, I knew he would do well in a new league. Just not THIS well, and for the damn Phils!

        2. rustyjr

Still on the tex jag huh case LOL and kong although I wanted the yanks to beat philthies I did smile when they lost those 2 games

          1. kingman26

Well, I certainly am not sad when the Yanks lose, that is for sure, but I gotta go with whatever is best for the Metsies…..but I do faithfully root HARD against the Yanks in every postseason series, that is for sure. The Angels whole team were my heroes when they beat them in 2002 and ended all those WS trips in a row….and Beckett in 2003, and the Tigers in 2006….

        3. fongy2

          Holy crap Case!
          I’m w/you completely!
b/t/w,while many of you talk about how
          “each gm.counts”,
          some of u were
          very forgiving
          of Murphy and
          Church’s OF
          flubs which
          lead directly
          to losses.
          Just sayin’.

          1. GravediggerHebner

I could be wrong but weren’t you on the every game counts bandwagon when the flubs were occurring?

          2. fongy2

            Yes,yes I was!
            And if God forbid
            these
            two teams
            meet
in the series,I’d be rootin’hard for the Phils.
Make of that what you want.
            I’m an unabashed
            yankee hater.
            true and genuine.
            Mets lose,its a bad day
            but should yankees
            lose as well,not as bad.

          3. GravediggerHebner

I hear you, and whenever “they” are not playing a Mets’ division rival I feel exactly the same. Too many nights, if the Mets are losing or have lost, my whole mood depends on what team is leading when I check the Yankee score.

          4. metsfan4decades

I’m from that old school too. But lately, I think I hate the Phillies more – for several reasons:

            - yankees don’t look like those old dynasties of the old. I know they’re currently on top but I still think they’re a joke.
            – The whole Posada thing – I mean he’s done already. I appreciate loyalty but time to move on.
            – The great Mo is probably in his last good year.
            – The joke of holding on to Hughes and Kennedy instead of getting Johan (yeah us!).
            – Jeter, who always had mediocre range, is now past that.
            – ARod – enough said.
            – Joba – can’t even go there. Way over hyped as a starting pitcher
            – The whole Torre new contract thing.
In summation, a joke. Still love when they lose.

But the Phillies? I hate the fans, I can’t stand Hamels, Victorino, Rollins. They win once in a million years and they STILL can’t stop talking about the Mets.

Bah, I have to root for the Phils to lose, even if playing the Yankees.

    5. CaseStreet

totally agree fong, there’s nothing worse than a Yankee fan, unfortunately two of my brothers are

      1. fongy2

        Me too Dude.
        Got it bad.
        My-Bro-in-law whos
        been my best friend
        for over 20yrs AND
        worse my nephew/Godson
whos my heart are die-hard skank fans.
        Its a killa!

        1. rustyjr

My father-in-law is so is my wifes cousins plus I live on staten island where u are issued a Yankee cap at birth LOL

        2. CaseStreet

          poor tortured soul

I hope the Mets win it all for you this year!

          1. rustyjr

            LOL

  18. QnsNative718

Dirty, real, matt – Any of you guys hit up the Mets.com messege boards for readers? Some of them tend to have the same mindset as our friend Alex, but its worth a shot. I’d spread the word…

    1. dirtysanchez

i didnt know mets.com had a messege board. Ill look into that

      1. QnsNative718

Yeeeeeaman. It gets pretty crazy out there. Go to Mets.com, Fans, then Messege Boards.

      2. kingman26

Ha! Just wait, some of the stuff over there makes Metsblog’s morons look like polite baseball geniuses!

        1. GravediggerHebner

          So true.

  19. GravediggerHebner

Wily Mo Pena solo shot in the bottom of the 9th to cut the Iron Pigs lead to 6. Go Bisons!

    1. CaseStreet

isn’t that what they call the lady Philly Fans?

      1. sabermetrician

Iron Pigs or Mo’ Pena? lol

        1. rustyjr

I thought they were called glory ho’s LOL

          1. GravediggerHebner

Re-reading this thread, I think it’s going to be harder to attract bloggers for NLEastChatter with this crisp dialogue in the public domain.

Myself I went about 2 inches down the thread from welcoming the new Braves blog to “Dueling Banjos” references.

          2. rustyjr

Sorry heb I’ll clean up my act

          3. GravediggerHebner

No no no. I was talking about myself. You do your thing. I responded to you with a “Dueling Banjos” reference up there. Be yourself. That’s part of why this place exists. I was just being a bit critical of my own comments in that I welcomed the new guy then less than 5 minutes later I mocked an entire state.

          4. rustyjr

Well it is Georgia where the only museum they have is for a soda manufacturer LOL / did I just go there ?

          5. GravediggerHebner

Go there all you want. I was in St. Louis in 1993 and I had a few hours to kill. I looked at a city map and I saw an icon that said “video game museum” so I went. They had hands on exhibits of pretty much every generation of arcade video game ever. I hurt my hands playing everything from Pong to that football game where you slap the round ball that partially sticks up out of the console, all kinds of Pinball. It was truly spectacular.

          6. CaseStreet

lol, that’s the fun of it

  20. sabermetrician

mrose, trs; I live in DC and would be fine with starting up the Nats blog this weekend if we haven’t found someone yet. Then I’ll keep my ears peeled here for anyone that might be interested in taking it over.

    1. kingman26

      “I’ll keep my ears peeled”

      LOL!!

      1. mrose

        ouch
        lol
Saber – I think we had found a nice prospect.. but this goes for everyone..
if you find ANY blog which is Phils, Nats, Marlins that is NOT a domain name (because if they have their own domain, they are probably fine), then let us know.

          How about this blog guys?

          1. sabermetrician

I just contacted Chris to see if he’s interested.

          2. mrose

only thing about that blog is it seems to not get updated too often…
we can’t promise anything to anyone just yet, but the more prospects the better :)

          3. sabermetrician

Yeah, I noticed that it doesn’t get updated too often, but if we could get him started and then have some other guys join in to keep it rolling, it might work.

      2. sabermetrician

LOL…alright, alright, I goofed. I’ll keep my ear to the ground!

    2. fongy2

      Sabes, I’ve season tix to
the Nats AA team so if you need a heads up on anyone
      coming thru let me know.
b/t/w John Stearns is a real
      gentleman.

      1. sabermetrician

Good call Fongy, we’ll get something rolling with this.

  21. johan4cy

I think this site doesn’t have a good enough moderation system. come on guys, but i think its gunna get out of control over here. This thing is even letting us say “assume”….. People could be offended…

    1. QnsNative718

      Griffey.

      1. metsfan4decades

        Cheese.

    2. kingman26

Someone said “Griffey” the other day and 5 people cancelled their memberships in horror…..

Mr. North Jersey.. How about setting up a cafe press site with a Real Dirty Mets Blog t shirt. That way we can promote the site as well as be fashionable”

I dig the text you used in the banner.. you could put it on a blue or white shirt and maybe on the back it can say.. We’re not Sellouts! or something like that.

    1. rustyjr

How’s about a shirt that says ” I was banned from metsblog and all I got was this frighin t- shirt” LOL

      1. GravediggerHebner

        Trademark that fast. ™

        1. fongy2

          That IS tremendous!

          1. rustyjr

thanks LOL I’ll give it to u hen to trademark – kinds like a housewarming gift to the site. But I get 10% of the profits j/k LOL

      2. jonnyballgame

        hahha nice man!!!

      3. metsfan4decades

OMG – I’m LOL over here, Rusty. Good one.

      4. DNDJohan aka kistics

        LOL.. that’s awesome!

      5. QnsNative718

        LMFAO!!!

    2. mrose

      jonny – I had thought eventually a t-shirt thing would be awesome…
we could sell orange or blue ones with a mets logo and real dirty mets but nleastchatter.com on the back and so on for the other teams…. and mr north jersey’s logos are great

      1. jonnyballgame

The only good thing about cafepress and sites like that are that we can create hundreds of different designs and not have to pay for someone to create them. It would be nice to eventually have an official NL east chatter shirt. but until then I would like to sport a Real Dirty tee. and like you said NL East Chatter on the back

        1. mrose

i had never heard of cafepress…that looks like a good site..i say Mr North Jersey could go ahead and make a nice design…i’d buy one

  23. DNDJohan aka kistics

I’m going over to the Brave’s blog and give them an offer that they can’t refuse…

  24. rustyjr

Or realdirtymets – the anti cerrone !!

    mrose-

Phillies guy with a decent layout:

    http://ryan-worthy.mlblogs.com/

    1. mrose

hmm not terrible…i wonder how that mlblogs thing works…. i wonder if he just is on there cause it was easy..or if he has a deal….i’ll put that into consideration

      1. GravediggerHebner

MF4D gave us this link the other day, it’ll explain more about the mlblogs:

        http://mlblogs.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/05/latest_leaders_-_apr_15-may_18.html

    2. GravediggerHebner

Potential issue in that it’s part of mlblogs, which unless I’m mistaken is a member of the mlb.com system, which has certain bylaws and regulations. I believe this blog flirted with the idea of joining them for a few moments but ultimately passed.

      1. sabermetrician

Can’t they leave anytime they feel like though? I mean maybe he would be forced to change his blogs name here, but he looks like he does some decent stuff.

        1. metsfan4decades

I’m sure they can leave when they want to. Probably can’t port it over to an independent site as is though. Or maybe they don’t care, just as long as you get rid of the MLB backdrop that most who have a blog over there are using. Probably the default that most didn’t change, for a variety of reasons…

      2. metsfan4decades

Yes, that was my mistake. I found the monthly list of baseball fan blog ratings and thought it would be cool if we could break into that list. But upon further reading, I realized they were all part of the MLBlog Sphere thing over there. Knew we didn’t want to go down that road and be under anyone’s control as it clearly stated you are bound by their guidelines.

Could be some started blogs on blog sphere b/c they assist you with that set up – for those less technically astute as others.

    3. jonnyballgame

      +100

      1. jonnyballgame

I like the look,, nothing else..

        1. GravediggerHebner

I’m pretty sure the look is the same for all the blogs in the MLBlogosphere. There’s a link a little bit above that has a rankings list of them, and links to their rules etcetera.

Brooklyn Met fan on Mets Weekly this week calling MC and metsblog the godfather of all Mets blog.

    1. GravediggerHebner

There comes a time when a new family takes over the territory.

    2. mrose

      are you joking???
      wow

    3. jonnyballgame

The Godfather of obvious opinion. I can’t wait for his next in game SNY tv spot. Its almost a comedy routine,

      1. rustyjr

My father always told me keep your friends close and your enemies closer

        1. fongy2

          Problem with the comparison
          is that MC is
          alot more like
          Freddo than
          Don Vito.

          1. jonnyballgame

He kept pushing and pushing and eventually we broke. We stood by him and helped him become what he is today. We even pretended to like his SNY work. Complimenting him on getting better. We supported him, until he turned his back on his most faithful followers.

  27. m1fournier

Haha Thank you all you Mets Fans
