case your opinion of the metsblog issue? Now that matt has allegedly burried the hatchet do you trust him? I will go there and read the threads cuz I like regis and the others but I don’t think I can ever comment there again on good concious- your thoughts, opinions?

    1. prismo

Is there really a reason to comment there again? The vast majority of Metsblog posts that I’m familiar with have migrated here, and we really only commented on Metsblog to chat with each other. At the least, I won’t post there nearly as often (if this website keeps up).

      1. rustyjr

        agreed

      2. prismo

I meant “Metsblog posters” of course!

        1. rustyjr

we’ll let u slide with your grammar LOL btw will it rain all day here in NYC

    2. CaseStreet

rusty, he and it are dead to me

  2. There's Always '10

Matt buried the hatchet? I saw him post links to other Mets blogging sites last night. Didn’t see this one on there.

    1. rustyjr

      I saw it ’10

      1. There's Always '10

Did he say anything about the site, or just provide a link?

That’s very big of him to do that actually. Wonder if he’s a proud papa.

        1. trs86

If you click on the link in my article on “The Metsblog Issue” you can read it.

          1. There's Always '10

TRS, that’s a shameless plug. Why can’t I just google your article and link in from there? :-D

  3. There's Always '10

…and for a bunch of slackers, you guys sure do get to the office early!

    1. rustyjr

I’m up weekdays at 4:15 am LOL

      1. There's Always '10

Wow. Mind my asking what you do for a living? that’s crazy early. I haven’t seen 4:15 since yesterday afternoon.

        1. fongy2

Rusty that 4 in the morn crap will make you old before
          your time.
          I know,Worked
          surveillance for yrs and it
          was not fun!
          Although while
          still in NY,
traffic was nice at that time.(mostly)

          1. kingman26

Yes sir, when i got up at 5 in Seattle in the 90s, the traffic was indeed the only really good thing about it!

  4. There's Always '10

Off topic, I decided to go through my “Saturday Plan” tickets to see when my next game is. I flipped through and noticed I had tickets for Monday, May 25th vs. Natinals. Mind you, I was looking through my tickets last night. Yup – I missed the game. Had no idea I had tickets for it. I’m an idiot.

    1. prismo

      Ouch! That blows.

      1. There's Always '10

Yup. At least I’ll get a few free 6″ subs when I purchase a foot long and a 279 oz. soda.

        1. trs86

Wow, that’s the gift that keeps on giving.

          1. There's Always '10

            Who am I?

            “It’s toasted.”

  5. fongy2

Matt? Matt who?? Hes dead to me!!!

    1. There's Always '10

      Matt Franco

      1. trs86

You mean Daniel Murphy part 1…… LOL, just joking. Hopefully.

        1. There's Always '10

That’s Rico Brogna. Although, if Murph’s career can parallel that of Brogna’s, I think I might sign up for that right now.

Read that F-Art is getting benched tonight. But, “it has nothing to do with the incident.” For all of Jerry’s faults as a manager, disciplinary action seems to have fallen in his lap rather than anything else. Reyes could have been disciplined for not hustling, but instead came down with a bum calf. F-Art the same, but they are facing a lefty.

          1. trs86

I think Fmart needed a day off regardless of the base running issue.
He needs a game to just sit and watch and get his nerves.

          2. There's Always '10

I agree. I’m just saying, when a situation has popped up where Jerry is either to discipline (as per Mike F. and his loyal fans) or turn the other cheek, a convenient situation pops up to help avoid controversy.

  6. mrose

    morning fellas….
another day, hopefully another successful day w/ the new site :)

  7. metsfan4decades

Hummm….not sure how I feel about Matt contacting this blog, opening up registration for all, offering a Q&A. Guess I just have to ask: what took him so long to address the whole issue? That’s all we were looking for on his blog – an explanation of comment formatting going bipolar. If you think about it, that’s what started everything.
    Was he overwhelmed?
Did he target the wrong people as problem posters?
Is it because he got away from actually reading his own blog?
I know many who became increasingly frustrated emailed him as well – with no response.
Is there more to what was going on than we all realized?

In my opinion he made a mistake, plain and simple. Something I’m sure we can all identify with.
Even if any of the above is true, all it would have taken was a simple explanation. He finally did that, of a sort, but a good week after comments were shut down.

No matter. This site was born of that whole incident. I love what you all have done over here and will continue to come here. I think it’s my new addiction – LOL.

And love the Stengel quote of the day. The open thread idea was a great one too. Now anyone can throw any Met topic out there on this thread they want to comment on. Good idea.

    1. fongy2

      Great post! Says it all!

      1. rustyjr

Agree with you on all counts u r the first lady of this blog

        1. metsfan4decades

Ha! I think some still have a hard time believing us gals can be as ‘die hard’ as any guy when it comes to our favorite team. I might not have grown up playing little league and dreaming of being a ML ball player, but I live and die with our NY Mets, same as many of my ‘fellow’ Met fans do.

          1. fongy2

            Jeez,
            you are
            a real
            fan.
            Never
            knew you
            were female.
            Shame on me!

          2. darknova306

MF4D, I’ve been meeting a lot of very die-hard female Mets fans on Twitter lately. They’re out there, you just have to look hard. :p

Regarding your original post, I agree entirely: all we needed was a simple explanation when comments were first turned off. He handled it poorly, but that’s alright. I was already losing interest with all the changes in the comments section to begin with.

Oh well, the irritation we all had during that time was an opportunity for the hardcore fans to create a new community over here, and it looks damn good. :)

    2. There's Always '10

Here is what confuses me. If I’m running a blog that is getting all of the attention that his gets via SNY, I would be thrilled seeing 2,000+ comments on game day threads. Honestly, the content of the comments was sometimes offensive and I agree with him that needed to be policed and filtered. Off hand, I can recall many jokes as to Minaya’s grasp of the English language…and that’s wrong. I disagree with him not listening to the people that consistently visited his site everyday and contributed in their own way. We asked him numerous times to change the format of the comments section to make it easier for discussion, laughs, etc. It just never happened. I couldn’t be happier over here at this blog. I’ll still check in on Matt’s every now and then, but don’t plan to comment there.

      1. trs86

        Thanks,
I agree. He should have done a few things to catch this before it became such a large issue. I think he would agree with that as well.

    3. trs86

Thanks for the kind words. LOL, your addiction. I think my wife is going to kill me.
As for the Q and A, I think that is why he offered. I think a lot of your assumptions (still can’t believe I can say that) are correct.

      1. metsfan4decades

Yes, I think we all realize our ‘core’ here has put in some long hours getting this up and running. I, for one, really appreciate that. As I said before, I’m having so much fun…

    4. udontmesswthejohan

I agree Metsfan, the most frustrating thing about the whole incident, IMO, was that he failed to address the issue in any way. I can’t speak for everyone, but had he simply posted a message saying “I’m really backed up and the comments will be down for awhile” I think most of us would have given him the benefit of the doubt.

    5. dirtysanchez

lol we are glad to be your drug dealer ;p

      1. metsfan4decades

        HAHAHA – Good one.

  8. udontmesswthejohan

“Next step, building a co-existing MetsBlog Message Board, though I suspect this will take time to develop.”

Now that some of the dust has settled from the “Revolt” and Matt was nice enough to post a link to this blog, perhpas someone (Mrose – since he seemed to spearhead the message board concept) should get in touch with Cerrone and offer access to what has already been done.

Like most of you I was disappointed the way things went down the last couple of weeks over there. I’m also happy that we have this new place to come and share thoughts about the Mets. However, just to play devil’s advocate here, none of use knows for certain why he shut down the comments. We have our theories, but we don’t know for certain. Anyway, that’s my take.

    1. trs86

Udon’t. Matt, Mrose and I have been in contact. We are discussing how we want to address these issues.

    2. fongy2

      Under direction of those
paying him. SNY and their AND
      the Mets’ sponsors.
      Thats what happens when you
      sell your soul.

      1. trs86

But lets not be jealous here. If someone wanted to come on here and pay enough to do this so as I could quit work…..

        1. udontmesswthejohan

I agree totally, and that’s why I don’t begrude the guy. I’d have sold out long ago. haha.

All I think he owed the readers was an explanation.

          1. trs86

In the email he sent to us, he said the same thing.

          2. There's Always '10

            TRS,
Certainly don’t hold a grudge or any jealousy. My problem with it is, if someone is paying you to do something, regardless if they are a sponsor or simply your employer, that makes it your job.

If a fitness model sponsored by GNC gained 100 lbs of fat, they would most likely lose their sponsorship and would in effect, become unemployed. If I went into Burger King and they refused to serve me a Whopper without mayo, I would leave and probably never visit that Burger King again.

All that being said, Matt has done a great job with that site and growing it. He is an entrepreneur and I applaud him for that. But I think he failed us in this instance. Doesn’t make him a bad guy, but I’m very happy right here.

          3. trs86

            Agreed !

      2. udontmesswthejohan

Fong, I don’t see any advantage for the Mets, SNY, or the sponsors in closing the comments. I mean they were getting close to a thousand comments a game. If anything the sponsors and SNY would be salivating over that.

        1. trs86

However, I do also see a point that you are responsible for what is said in those comments to a small extent. Saying Omar screwed up is one thing. Calling him a racist is another. There should have been a paid moderator.

          1. udontmesswthejohan

Agree 100%. I tend to stay off there during the games, but there was some pretty racist and homophobic stuff being spewed on there. I can imagine that Verizon would be none to happy about that.

          2. mrose

i think that was a lot of the problem…and that kinda stuff won’t be tolerated anywhere…or shouldn’t be..that is..

          3. trs86

Nor will it be on here because we have a lot of authors with ability to moderate. Very rarely will there be a time that there is not a moderator on the board.

          4. trs86

I think what happen to Matt is that he got too big too quickly. There was not a plan going forward. Here is a guy that just a short year and a half ago just a well paid blogger. Now he is basically the official blog of the Mets. He has not got the staff needed to make the site what HE wants it to be. He needs an editor and a comment moderator.

          5. mrose

            agreed

          6. metsfan4decades

And an IT specialist to maintain the site for him. Don’t think that’s his area of expertise. And that’s one comment I kept making over there. I’m sure he got tired of reading that from me – lol.

          7. trs86

Agreed, I am decently computer savvy but I have no clue what I am doing with code.

  9. kingman26

Personally, I will support whatever The Gritty Core of TRS, Dirty, and MRose want to do regarding Metsblog, as they have created this alternative and far better Met universe.

However, I think Matt is an incredibly unprofessional and mediocre guy. We have all seen on here that it is really not beyond the realm of the possible to have posts with good writing, proper grammar, and words spelled correctly, not to mention accurate lineups and updated standings. And the guys doing this site all have other careers and lives—Metsblog is Matt’s life; he should have at least learned how to use spell check and teach Nichols to copy and paste.

I was not there as long as TRS and others, but I was there for a few years, and posted a lot for maybe the last 18–24 months. Matt completely threw us all overboard and blew off the comments issue for 5+ months.

Then he banned me and many of us out of spite and bitterness. Now, as it is OBVIOUS that this place is a serious threat to him, at least in a small way, he has awakened to all of us and decided to act like a grown-up. Personally, this one man’s opinion is that the people who run THIS place clearly have the upper hand. Matt saw 500+ posts on threads here for a site a week old, and also saw that most of his most loyal commenters immediately migrated over here.

Again, I support The Core of this blog, and will follow their lead regarding relations with Metsblog, but I humbly submit that this site has the upper hand, as Matt counted his hits and looked at the less familiar names commenting when he has re-opened comments, and then finally acted.

    1. trs86

I think you are right. Matt had no need to respond to our emails but he did. Maybe out of respect and burying the hatchet, maybe out of a slight amount of fear. I know that we will continue this site for as long as I can continue to find quality writers. Can’t wait to read your first post King. I have already been cheating and previewing it.

      1. dirtysanchez

lol me too..sorry king..couldnt contain my suspense ;p

      2. kingman26

Damn, I didn’t think that you guys could preview it! Now I REALLY feel the pressure to produce something plausible!!

        :-)

    2. udontmesswthejohan

Hat tip to Mrose, TRS, and Dirty. Great job boys.

Brock, while I echo your frustrations, at this point, Matt has extended the olive branch so to speak so it might be best if we all let by gones be by gones.

      1. kingman26

You are correct sir, and as I said, I will follow The Core on here as to whatever actions they deem appropriate. I do on occasion believe a grudge can be appropriate, but also childish and unproductive.

    3. There's Always '10

      Break up the core!

    4. CaseStreet

kingman, I’m with you bud. However, I don’t care to collaborate w/ Matt. Read my comment from last night.

      1. kingman26

I did and I am with you my friend. Matt blew us off for months and banned us, and has come here for two reasons—-he has seen his most loyal readers almost all defect, which HAS to have lowered his hits at least minimally. And more importantly, he sees a site which, after about a week and a half, already contains content which is FAR superior and more accurate and more professionally presented than his site’s content, which has been around for years and has major corporate sponsorship.

But again, I will NEVER do anything to jeopardize this site’s relationship with Matt as long as The Core here want to co-exist peacefully, which will almost certainly help this site more than it will help Metsblog! But Matt has surely lost me forever.

        1. rustyjr

          I’m with u2

  10. dirtysanchez

Thing is guys..we never EVER wanted to “war” with metsblog. We just had a difference of opinion. We wanted a place where we could have intellegent discussion and debate w/o trolls. We wanted better topics. Thus this site was created. It is a piece of a bigger idea in NLeastchatter.com. I will agree matt could have DEFINATLY handled it better..no question. I just think people had the wrong idea for what was really going down here and real did what he could to clear it up.

    1. trs86

      Agreed.

  11. Joe R

Damn I just saw Delgado on cruthches on SNY. Crap…I thought he would be rehabbing and playing some minor league games already lol. Good to see him though. I dont know Sheffield from a hole in the wall. I hear what everyone hears but I’m sure he’s a pretty good guy and since I’m a nice guy I am very happy for him! Keep it up buddy!

    1. There's Always '10

Yea, I read it in the paper. More perplexing is the fact that Delgado shaved his goatee and is growing out his hair!!! Wow. For those of you who like some cheese and whine in the morning, this is on Sports Spyder:

      http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phillies/20090529_Paul_Hagen__Mets__latest_replay_home_run_anything_but_conclusive.html

      1. Joe R

WaWaWa lol…I can pretty much assure that we wont see that Subway HR controversy for the next 5 years. Its like the lightning landing in the same spot sort of thing lol

        1. There's Always '10

Got to have a Wawa. Got to have a Wawa.

    2. metsfan4decades

Really? I’m putting my money on Delgado making it back by August. I might be too optimistic on that but if he’s healthy and has his timing down, he’ll be an important part of the ‘stretch run’. Even if he is a platoon with Murph and no longer the starting 1st baseman, his bat can only add to the offense.

      1. trs86

He may make it back by late August but he will not be full swing.

        1. metsfan4decades

And you very well could be right on that. I don’t expect him to be back raking out of the shoot, but if he makes it back in Aug., hopefully he’ll have his timing back up to par by Sept.

    3. trs86

My thought was 10 weeks is 10 weeks THEN rehab. I do not anticipate a Delgado in possible full swing until Mid-September.

      1. Joe R

Well if this is the case then we need to make a trade and if Omar knows this or feels Delgado wont be at full swing til after mid september we can expect a big new bat in Flushing 100% Im hoping for an Arod recovery which is possible Why Not?? Yes hes older and maybe in a little worse shape but its a possibility.

        1. trs86

But Delgado is usually such a slow starter.

    4. CaseStreet

Hope Gado is back by mid August so he can get hot by Sept.

      1. There's Always '10

I hope Beltran can stay hot and on the field.

        1. Joe R

Yeah Beltran is key. I like SNY but please with the… its OK to trade Reyes because we won a few games without him. I mean a week ago we couldnt get him back fast enough when Martinez was bouncing balls off his forehead. Sorry that didnt sound right lol…I mean I know they have to fill up time but if thats the case put on more of those spelling bee robot kids!! Between his arm and defense alone, I for one took for granted how many potential baserunners he keeps off the diamond!

          1. There's Always '10

reyes is a fantastic shortstop. who was saying they should trade him?

          2. Joe R

The 2 dopes on SNY. IDK their names…saying he’s not Beltran or Wright and with his bonehead plays combined with the ability for the Mets to win in his absence…I guess that equals trade. They fail to mention what happened to the defense when he first went out and the fact yes we are winning in the smallest of small sample size.

          3. There's Always '10

I am not against entertaining the idea of trading him for a guy like Halladay. However, suggesting to trade him because Ramon Martinez has been good defensively is assenine.

          4. Joe R

I’m not close minded and would at least listen to offers. It’s basically the timing of these pranksters!

          5. metsgirl31

It was Schein and Isola on Loudmouths…I think they were talking just to hear themselves talk cuz their “rationale” was junk.

          6. There's Always '10

My favorite was when Adam Schein first started out on FAN. His song was “Who Let The Dogs Out”. It was his own version:

“Who let the dogs out? woof, woof, Adam Schein. Who let the dogs out? Live, live, live, live.”

          7. metsgirl31

That’s funny…I don’t live in NY so I never heard that.

          8. There's Always '10

Metsgirl31, or is it Piazza? I think you should google it or something. It’s pretty stupid, but worth the minute.

          9. Joe R

True dat!! I think they get off the more ridiculous stuff they say to each other! Its almost like OK I can top that! Lets trade Johan while he’s still got it.

          10. There's Always '10

Here’s another little nugget for you to chew on….just shut up already.

          11. metsfan4decades

Yeah, I commented on that last night after I saw that segment.
Uh…no. Trade Reyes? ‘Cause ‘this is as good as it gets with him’?
If so, I’ll take it. One of the top three SS in the league and one of the best lead off hitters out there. Yes, he makes some bonehead base running mistakes and the occasional error. But that can improve…

          12. CaseStreet

            too funny

            was it Beningo trading Reyes?

          13. Joe R

Haha I think he was behind the camera holding the cue cards for them to read his talking pints lol!!

        2. Joe R

So the magic cortisone shot worked on Beltran! Not so much on Delgado. Man tough to grasp this stuff but why not give him another day or 2 off. I know we need him big time and we won’t continue to win with a AAA team out there, but crap 2 days ago he couldnt play. Give him another day imo. I guess medical staff knows best and his injury must not be that serious but if he complains his knee hurts tonight or tomorrow I will have a nervous breakdown!

          1. There's Always '10

I would say at this point to rest him on a day game after a night game. I haven’t looked to see if tomorrow is a 1PM game or 7, but I’d like to see him in the lineup against Johnson.

  12. Joe R

Curious to see how many ppl visit this site today after the shout out from Matt. Maybe you guys can post the number with a percentage increase as well from the previous days.

  13. CaseStreet

Is anyone else having problems w/ the weather post? I can only see the first three comments.

    1. fongy2

      Yeah,just happened ’cause
I posted a Lloyd Linsay Young
greeting and now can only see
the first 3 posts as well.
      Early glitches.

      1. CaseStreet

thanks fong, thought I got banned or something. lol

        1. There's Always '10

Why would that happen? Did you post something that wasn’t weather related?

          1. prismo

            Yeah, that = automatic ban.

            jkjk

  14. udontmesswthejohan

    TRS/Dirty,

How would one go about making a written submission. I’ve been throwing something together.

    1. Joe R

Were you at the Met game the other day. Some fan was holding up a sign that said U DONT MESS WITH THE JOHAN lol

      1. udontmesswthejohan

Nah dude, but I saw that. Haha. I have to trademark that.

I saw it also and was thinking the same thing.

It’s “Open Thread” day at TRDMB.

  16. oleosmirf

Jose will always be the same and you just have to accept it. He’s still going to make plenty of bonehead plays but he’ll dazzle you also. Thats just how he is…

  17. nymetsfan718

So this is where all the good guys and gals came to? I missed ya guys. 2 weeks over seas and i come back to confusion.

    1. metsfan4decades

Welcome! Yes, it’s been quite the two weeks….

        its good to be home

        1. There's Always '10

Who is Jon Bon Jovi? I’ll take 90s hair bands for 500.

          1. nymetsfan718

            LOL, good one

          2. rustyjr

Welcome great tp have u here

          3. There's Always '10

            great toilet paper?

  18. fongy2

So I’m checking the Mariners web-site
to see how Zeke Cabrera is doing
AND was surprised to find both Chris
Woodward and Chris Shelton are playing
    there,healthy and productive.
You mean to tell me that instead of
trading for a Kevin Baez wannbe like
Wilson Valdez that Omar can’t call Seattle and agree to send a few bags of balls for these two former MLBers
who could help us for a few weeks
until we get some regulars back???

    1. CaseStreet

pretty sure Valdez was brought for his defense only skills, especially after R. Martinez kept on “getting hit by balls in the face”

      1. There's Always '10

        after games?

        1. fongy2

          before maybe too!?

          1. There's Always '10

Good thing it hasn’t been during. I don’t think Citi Field is ready for that type of christening yet.

          2. fongy2

            Wheres Dave Cone
            when you need him?

          3. There's Always '10

Last thing we need is guys taking balls off the face during games. Matt would close the comments section.

      2. CaseStreet

saw that joke in the comments earlier

    2. trs86

Good point. Keep in mind that Valdez is a very temporary stop gap that cost ONLY money. No prospects at all.

      1. There's Always '10

wonder if he was more expensive than sheff. :-D

      2. fongy2

I don’t wanna set everyone off against
        me BUT c’mon,Wilson
        Valdez? Just look at
        some of the fmr MLBers
        on AAA rosters incl
        Woodward and Shelton
        in Tacoma. What would
        they really cost?
        I know,I know I’m
        anti Omar But again,
        c’mon!

        1. There's Always '10

How about Easley? I’d give my right arm to have him back. Even though he is the righty version of Alex Cora with a little more pop.

          1. fongy2

            That would be
            fine except that
            he’d need a few wks
            in the minors at this
            point to get
            in game
            shape
            so whats the point?

          2. There's Always '10

Then Cora could have his surgery and our bench could be fortified by August. I’d take a bench of Easley, Cora, Backup Catcher, Pagan, Church. It’s better than Reed, Cora, Catcher, Pagan, Church.

            Pagan,Church. Weird.

          3. CaseStreet

            Tatis?

          4. There's Always '10

Forgot about Mighty Mouse. Maybe we didn’t need Easley :-)

          5. CaseStreet

but Cora is supposed to be much better defensively

          6. There's Always '10

Easley is a wiley vet. I liked him a lot in his time here.

          7. fongy2

Yeah but we need help NOW!

          8. CaseStreet

he’ll be back next week, didn’t you see my Injury Watch Report?

  19. fongy2

    Really looking over OUR minors,
theres not much there that Omar can
deal. I dont want him touching the
likes of Holt or Rustich to a minor
    upgrade.

    1. trs86

Exactly, if the Mets feel that Reyes and Cora will be back soon and who ever they get will be cut soon then why use ANY prospects?

      1. fongy2

        Highly doubt that if
        omar called seattle
and asked about Chris Woodward whos buried
        in Tacoma he’d be asked
        for a Holt type prospect.If so,you just
        hang up.

      2. darknova306

This is one of the times where it’s good to have Omar: he doesn’t (seem to) panic. Fans are understandably worried, but it’s too early to be thinking about trading the few remaining prospects we have to get some stop-gaps. I’d rather sit pat right now and get some guys healthy.

        1. fongy2

          Omar doesn’t
          panic?
          See:Ollie Perez.

          1. darknova306

Ollie wasn’t a panic move, it was just Omar being an idiot. He thought “hey, I can low ball Derek Lowe if he sees I have Ollie as a good backup choice”… oops!

          2. Joe R

The Perez signing or the not signing of Lowe is something I can let pass with Omar. His thinking was rational and understandable in my eyes. AGe, money, upside, etc are all logical points of view. Turns out they may have been wrong but it happens. Like I said a million times, what I cant forgive Omar for is not signing Hudson, Abreu, or Dunn. I will accept the fact that Philly was not going to let any other team get Ibanez. I know we all discussed this 100 times but eating Castillo’s contract was the type of move after 2 horrible collapses that would have instantly changed the chemistry and feel to this team. His leadership, team play, etc imo was just what the doctor ordered. It would have also sent a nice message.

          3. darknova306

I understand your line of thinking. My problem is that we low-balled Lowe right off the bat, and he said later that he would’ve been here if we had given him a reasonable offer to begin with. I was sick of the Ollie-coaster last year and wanted no part of it this year.

Man, I would have loved having Hudson, though….

  20. fongy2

    Thanks for the back.
    Sorry,don’t wanna be so negative
BUT when it comes to Omar,
    I just dont trust him.
Theres never a back up plan w/him.
And re:Ibanez, Omar should hve gotten
into it.If for nothing else than to make Philly up their offer.Ya know
like Lowe/Boras did w/us and the Braves. And indeed once the market
was dry for guys like Dunn/Abreu
    We should have jumped in.
As for Hudson, this is just another
    reason to dislike Omar.
He knew b/c WE knew Hudson was gonna
be a free agent and a yr ago he couldnt wait to throw crazy money
and yrs at Castillo. Why? b/c THAT
was HIS guy. The one HE wanted!
Thank God for Daddy Wilpons $$$!!!

    1. darknova306

Yeah, I don’t think anyone was happy about the Castillo contract. That handcuffed us badly. I was pissed when we passed up Dunn just because Murphy was ‘our LF of the future’. Ugh.

      1. Joe R

Oh god…its depressing to talk about this stuff. Its just one or two moves that never seem to be made to put our team over the top. Look what Ibanez has done for Philly. He may be the best off season move in baseball. If we just won the WS and had a guy leaving, Omar would probably just try to platoon the position. The last 2 years we all have agreed that we were probably missing one more big bat in the lineup. I hope we get one this year at the deadline but now we have to trade instead of jumping on all the players that were available. I mean the economy was horrible and the caliber of player that was able to be scooped up at a low price was unbelievable. Yes we had Castillo’s contract but the economy allowed Omar to correct his ridiculous mistake. Maybe he just didnt want to admit he signed a guy that is washed up to a horrible contract. Dunn who hits 40 HR 100 RBI and a high OBP for cheap when we need a bat and an outfielder. And I never bought the whole…Dunn strikes out in big spots, hits HR’s when they dont count, etc. When do we have such a huge lead in a game where a 3 run shot wouldnt help. We learned last year you can never score enough.
