- Boomer asked Omar about Delgado’s comments on his recovery from surgery. Omar said that he was not concerned and did not expect Delgado to be able to give a for sure recovery date. It was a serious injury and we will have to see how he responds. Carton did not think it was a major story.
- Carton ask Omar about why the Mets were handling Fmart with kid gloves. Why did they not read him the riot act? Omar responded by saying he is just a kid. He has always ran hard in the past and he just drew a blank. It happens.  If it becomes a pattern then we will punish him. Carton said the Mets have had all kinds of issues with percieved lack of hustle. Should we be concerned with our prize prospect having this issue already. Omar said that the fans should not worry. Boomer agreed and said he did not think it would ever be an issue again.
- Boomer asked how surprised Omar was that Sheff has done what he has. Omar said he was not surprised at all because of his history.  All the teammates they asked said he was a good teammate. What you say in the media and what you do in the clubhouse are two different things. Getting Sheff for that cheap as insurance was an easy move to make. Omar also said he thinks Sheff is a better everyday player than a DH or bench guy.
- Carton asked Omar about the status of Reyes, Church and Beltran. Omar said that Beltran will play this weekend and hopefully tonight. Cora should be ready by next week and Reyes will begin playing some rehab games in FL. Omar said they wanted to be extra cautious with Reyes because speed is his game and they need him to win a championship.
- Carton then went loony and asked why do you guys not like Church, did he sleep with someones wife. Omar again said that we like Church and need him to step up. Jerry pushes Ryan and it looks like he does not like him. Carton said that he was benched when he was batting .500. Omar made the statement that Jerry is all about team and not the individual and gives straight answers that can be misinterpreted????
- Boomer asked about the Pelfrey yips issue. Both Boomer and Carton said that Pelfrey has mental issues and continued to try and get Omar to admit to that. Omar said that Pelfrey does not have mental issues and is pitching well.
- Carton moved on to “Ollie P”. Omar said that he was in AAA and not pitching the way that he wants to or the way they want him to. The knee is still bothering him and had to be checked out again after his last start.
- Carton commented on how Omar had to be thrilled that with all the injuries the Mets are in 1st place. Omar said that he is happy but we just have to keep playing hard.
- Carton brought up Putz and was very critical of him. He asked if Omar was concerned. Omar said that JJ has still been getting the job done which makes him think how good he will be when we get the real JJ.
- Carton asked about Wagner and the possibility of getting him back in September. Omar said that was a very real possibility and he should be ready.
- Carton said he wanted Feliciano off the team and he was terrible. Omar and Boomer said that he was a good pitcher.
- Carton asked if Murphy will be platooned. Omar said that was Jerry’s decision but at this point yes with the nod going to the hot hand.
- Boomer asked Omar if he was concerned over Wright’s mini-slump and does he need time off. Omar said that Jerry wants to get all the guys a day off here and there and would like to do that with Wright as well.
- Omar was then asked about the Manny situation which he dodged quite well.
- Lastly, the guys made up this idiot song about Pelfrey licking his hands and Omar did well not to hang up.

I used to get excited for these interviews, but they are pretty much a bore, even on deadline day.
Beningo: So who are you looking at acquiring today Omar? Can you give us a little insight?

Come on, you have to give Omar credit for all these interviews. He never shies away from them, even if he’s not the best public speaker in the world. I just wish for once he would complete one sentence he starts before interrupting himself and starting on another. Regardless, you can always get the feel for what he’s trying to say, even with all the ‘ya knows’ in there.
Carton is just getting on my nerves lately. I know he’s a big Met fan but I don’t remember him being quite as cheesy in the past. Just saying…

Great job with the link. I click on it and it works! Used to be, on metsblog, I couldn’t get half the videos to work. Either wouldn’t do anything, or the videos would play but with no sound. That was always on Firefox but most of the time could get them to work on I.E. No such problem here on any link so far for me…

Carton is a joke. They basically replaced Sid Rosenberg with a not as funny bafoon who hasn’t made an over the top insensitive remark to get himself fired…yet. When he does, they will replace him with another clone of himself until he does the exact same thing.
Bring back Imus. He made a horrible mistake, but he has been on the radio for how long? Doing charity events for how long?
