This is where we hold them! This is where we fight!

300_phalanx

Theres no secret here, the Mets are in for a fight the next few weeks. With all the injuries this team has underwent they have managed to find their way to first place. It must be tough enough being the hunted when you healthy and on a roll…I can only imagine what it must feel like to be the Mets being the hunted and in their current situation. These guys have to hold down the fort until the calvalry comes back. Good for them that Carlos Beltran should be back tonight. I believe we should all be proud of our team for the resiliancy they have shown this year and I am excited to see what they are capable of as i believe this will be a very special season…LGM

    Hey guys,
I can finally exhale, props to Dirty and company for the venue.
Changing the thread for a second, I tried to go on Mets Blog and I guess you have to wait a weel or so to be approved into “the community” THE COMMUNITY !? I mean , come on, the last I looked Matt had a sum total of 17 post’s for the entire blog.
    So much for community.
Anyway, i’m glad to be on and look forward to good old fashioned dialogue with other Met fan’s.

THIS IS WHERE WE HOLD THEM! THIS IS WHERE WE FIGHT!…………HELL YEA ! GO METS ! PROPS AGAIN TO YOU DIRTY.

    1. dirtysanchez

      lol thanks buck
i think what matt is doing now is monitoring the posts/bloggers that go to his site. Im glad you found your way here and feel free to express your mind here man..its a team effort here and everybody together makes this place great.

I really think that although we’re limping along, we’re in a good position right now. We gotta 3 game set with the floundering fish, a 4 game set with the Triple A Pirates then a 3 get set again w. the gNats. By that time, we’ll have a healthy Reyes (HOPEFULLY!!!) as well as a healthy Church. All before the the Phils and Yanks…

        1. dirtysanchez

agreed…we can really capitolize on this stretch of teams…it would be nice to have all our guns but this should be at the very least interesting…lets hope they take advantage..

        2. There's Always '10

I hope the healthy Church is a good bench player. That would mean that F-Mart is tearing it up.

    2. QnsNative718

Welcome aboard, man. Glad to have another intelligent Mets fan on board.

      1. bucknersankles

        Thanks Qns,
good to be on, you guys are making me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

        1. QnsNative718

Awwww.. Well unlike some places, we do consider ourselves a community.

          1. rustyjr

  3. metsgirl31

Awesome movie reference…300 is one of the best! And I agree with everything you said…they have an opportunity now to show what they are truly made of. Let’s Go Mets!

    1. dirtysanchez

Yep…definatly a good opp to have omar eat his hat(reg his lack of edge comment early on) LGM!!

  4. There's Always '10

Tonight would be a good night for Cody Ross to take one in the back. Maybe even Amezaga.

    1. QnsNative718

Cody Ross reminds me of those little “doosiers” from Fraggle Rock.

      1. CaseStreet

        love fraggle rock

        1. QnsNative718

Loved the show as well. One of my first memories(Im 27) was seeng those haters each the doosiers work. Ba$tards!

          1. QnsNative718

            *eat

    2. QnsNative718

I like Amenzaga though. Dare I say a “scrappy” player.

      1. There's Always '10

both play with a lot of “eck”

  5. udontmesswthejohan

What I’ve liked so much about this recent run, as you say Dirty, is that they have been doing it mostly with backups and two of the big 4 out of the lineup.

I think this run should go along way to dispell all of those “soft”, “lack of grit” comments from earlier in the year.

    1. dirtysanchez

i hope so…you have no idea. Id be bold enough to say that we are the team with the most grit/heart/edge in the MLB…i mean look around. Who else is getting it done with our situation?

  6. There's Always '10

Do we have the ability to post to facebook on here?

  7. metsfan4decades

Finally, this team is clicking together as a team – something that was just missing the first 6 weeks or so. So many went down, so many stepped up. And those still standing, those picking up the slack, are getting the job done. One of the big key factors is the starting pitching has stabilized somewhat – even though we’re missing our 36 million dollar man.

This year is ours – LGM!

    1. dirtysanchez

      i love the optimism!

      1. rustyjr

Like I said before – if we are doing this well with mostly second string guys – then we will be dominant once we are at full power

  8. khmustache

whoa… a metsblog where we don’t have to be part of a club! sweet!

    1. khmustache

      btw… nice work dirty

      1. dirtysanchez

        2. metsfan4decades

        1. GravediggerHebner

          Me too

          1. There's Always '10

On my mobile version, your simpsonized self is your avatar. on here, it’s a baby dropping a deuce.

          2. GravediggerHebner

I can only guess it has to do with a cache refresh, or lack thereof. I am currently using the Simpsonized Me, I switched off the baby yesterday after TRS made the “old Delgado” post that looked like me.

          3. prismo

I did a hard refresh and it works now.

  11. GravediggerHebner

I agree with the belief that this may be a special season, based on the way the team responds to adversity. Two things IMO will help determine how special the season turns out: how well other teams respond to their own adversity, and how the Mets as a group rebound from their own “brain farts” for lack of a better term.

  12. ceetar

As long as Sheffield’s hot streak lasts a little bit longer.

Beltran back, the Marlins may be the worst team in the division. Honestly the fish have nothing as powerful as Johnson, Zimmerman, Dunn. Their bullpen is marginally better, but still. HOpefully Church and Reyes are back before we face the third best team in the each the NL and AL East. (Phillies and Yankees)

  13. GravediggerHebner

Is that pic from “300″ or from the cheap comedic version with Carmen Electra in it that I’m ashamed to admit made me laugh.

  14. wannybackstra

Following on Grave’s post from earlier, lest anyone think that only the bats have failed in losses: Mets ERA in Wins = 2.49 and in losses = 8.06.

    1. GravediggerHebner

Holy crap! I didn’t realize it was that bad. I just focused on hitting because I have semi-secret knowledge that Case is going to blow our minds with a “State of the Mets’ pitching” post soon. Oh and because I have no idea what I’m talking about. But mostly that first thing.
