Pagan and Maine’s Early Exits

injured_boo_boo_smiley_face_sticker-p217251283649685008qjcl_400Angel Pagan left today’s game in the top of the fourth inning.  While chasing after a deep fly ball to left center, Angel suddenly began limping and appeared to grab onto his quad.  Looks like this could be another injury on a growing list of Pagan’s injuries.

Gary Cohen says the injury is being called “right groin discomfort” at this time…which sounds fishy considering the way Pagan was limping.

After the 6 shutout innings and only 82 pitches, John Maine has been removed from the game.  He came in and after throwing his last warm-up pitch reached for his right side which brought the attention of the Mets training staff.   After being checked out, John was removed from the game but as always, Maine did not look happy as usual.  Replays after the commercial break did not give any better insight into a possible injury, we’ll hope it was just some tightness and this is more precautionary.  Maine was pitching a great game.

Pedro Feliciano came on and pitched a 1-2-3 inning after Maine’s early exit.

Updates will continue as we get more information.

Update 2:53PM EST

It appears John Maine has caught Carlos Beltran’s stomach ailment.  Thats actually a relief, but please guys…you make great money, you can afford to stop eating at the dirty corner bodegas.

Wow, that’s a tight MRI tube in that graphic!

The way I heard it was “right” groin, but either way it doesn’t sound good.

I wasn’t sure if I heard that too…but what’s a right groin? As far as I know, I only have one groin and it’s right in the middle!

I don’t know enough to speak intelligently about it, although I can go on for days childishly about groins!

I hope it’s merely “shorthand” for “right side of groin discomfort.” I’m basing that guess on the fact that on the telecast they showed Pagan gesturing to his inner right thigh when speaking with the trainer.

        Right it is…

Also, what’s up with the comments locking up sometimes after editing a post? Is it the ghost of Cerrone?

        1. GravediggerHebner

I don’t know about the comments thing. Ghosts seems to be a reasonable explanation.

It hasn’t happened to me yet. I had a theory that it was somehow generational in that it was only happening to people who became authors after I did, but then it happened to Dirty so I’m at a loss.

I’ve noticed it enough that in my mental checklist when I’m making a post I make sure there is a check in the “allow comments” box. I’m not sure about the box next to it regarding “pinging” I usually make sure that does NOT have a check in it since I don’t know what pinging is.

Holy Sh$t. Now Maine too? We are going to have to cash in our chips and get some trade help or we may be in trouble.

You beat me to the edit mrose! Man, the injury bug is in FULL FORCE. I have a feeling the Maine thing is just precautionary though..

Perhaps it’s the sushi Jon Stewart was talking about?

      LOL.

Can’t afford to have another pitcher catch this bug. Especially Johan, or any starter for that matter plus – as Gary Apple puts it – the lawfirt of Parnell, Putz and KRod.

yeah except putz is becoming the ambulance chaser lol
