5th place is better than Davy Jones' Locker
A look at what’s going on at a few Pittsburgh Pirates blogs as the Mets prepare to batten down their hatches and visit Pittsburgh for a 4 game series:
At Bucs Dugout they go over which Pirates relief pitchers may soon walk the plank, and point out that OF Nyjer Morgan has the best UZR of any player in baseball.

At Pittsburgh Lumber Co. they discuss Astros pitcher Mike Hampton’s continued scuttling of the Pirates, which he demonstrated again on Sunday.

At Bucco Blog they take an in-depth look at the Pirates weekend series with the Astros. Friday night and Sunday afternoon the Pirates only scored 1 run each game and lost. Saturday they scored 7 and won as landlubber Eric Hinske had 3 hits.

Nvyjer Morgan looked real good last time he was in Citi Field.
Boy, it’s gotta take a real fan to have a blog for the Pirates.

Here comes June!!!
This month imo is extremely crucial and will go a long way in swaying the standings and momentum from to one side or the other. As we all know we are very short handed. This schedule after the Nats is pretty hard. Can we hang on against the likes of the Phils, Yankees, etc. If we do I think we will be ready to go for the dog days of summer. Barring a terrible month, I cant see us at worst falling more than 4-5 games behind. I believe realistically we cant expect to gain more than 1 or 2. We, hopefully, will be getting more and more healthy and combined with some nice trade magic from Omar, ready to go!
I guess all we can hope for is more of the GREAT starting pitching we have been getting. Im sure there may be a slight drop off because they are all pitching like aces at the moment. Continue to get some timely hitting and hope for the best!
Lets Go Mets!

Fifth place may be better than DJ’s Locker, but I’m not so sure that 17 straight losing seasons is.
