Q n A with Matt Cerrone on Wednesday @ 7

To follow up on a very well written account of our defection from Metsblog by TRS86, we arranged to have a Q n A session with Matt Cerrone. We have noticed there has been some animosity expressed by many commenters with how Metsblog handled their comment section.  Because of this we wanted to clear the air and get everything out in the open. We spoke with MC and he told us just about everything will be on the table for discussion(comment section, history of metsblog etc.). We are doing this so that the people that are on this site can get answers to whatever their frustrations were with Metsblog and hopefully to clear the air around here. We never set out to “war” with Metsblog. We wanted a different Mets blogging environment/atmosphere and that is what you see everyday. We will host this event via a live chat feature that you may have seen on MLBTR. Also so there is no surprise, WE WILL BE MONITORING AND FILTERING THE QUESTIONS IN THIS LIVE SESSION. Only appropriate questions will be displayed for MC to answer. We are giving you guys the heads up so you can prepare some questions for MC to answer. Again we hope in doing this, some questions will be answered and the animosity will dissipate. We welcome and appreciate everyone that has supported us in this venture and we want you to continue to come back and express yourselves. I will remind everyone in my Game Threads. Thank you

    Old news. Whats Mets blog?

    1. Kingman 26

      Yeah, I agree.

If Matt is totally honest and admits that he blew basically all of us off because he did not need the hits of the frequent commenters, I will respect that very much, as it is the obvious truth. If he passes it all off on tech issues, I will lose more respect. And I hope he admits that he is giving this site time because of not only how many of his most loyal commenters now reside here, but because this site is already better designed, better written, and MUCH more accurate than his.

But I have stopped going there, as this site is better in all ways, except for access to the Mets. And Matt has been around for years, and this site has been around for a few weeks, so that may change too.

      1. dirtysanchez

Just find a way to put it as a question so matt can give you an answer.

        1. Kingman 26

I will Dirty, and I appreciate the opportunity. I will think of one or two very respectfully-worded questions and send them to you in the hope Matt will answer candidly if there is time to ask them.

        2. Kingman 26

And Dirty–I truly appreciate the privilege of being able to be a writer here, and I am going to make time to make more posts and hopefully get better at it…

          1. rustyjr

Good to have your insight here kong

      2. dentulous

totally agree kingman, but we both know the chances of him admitting anything, are about as good as Putz closing out the 8th nowadays….

        1. Kingman 26

Haha! Yeah, this will indeed be very interesting….I am very curious to see how Matt handles this. Matt is not stupid and can surely tell how good this blog is, how many visitors it is getting, that almost all of his best commenters are now here and not going back, and most of all, how damn good this site is in record time.

It is like TRS, Dirty, and MRose took all of the good from Metsblog and left all of the bad behind and have made a much better site, which will clearly keep getting better.

          1. trs86

Guys we appreciate it. Please help us grow it to what all of us want.

          2. Kingman 26

TRS, like I said above to Dirty, and especially to you as you asked me, I truly appreciate the honor of being a writer here and I am going to find more time for more posts and really work at making them good.

This place has all of the good of Metsblog and none of the bad. I will try as much as I can to help it grow and improve.

But you guys have done an almost indescribably phenomenal job of doing what you have done in an impossibly short time.

          3. trs86

Thanks, next weeks goals is to get the T-shirts going.

            Good Posts
            Brock!
No need for me to add
            anything
            else.
            I’ve already
            stated
            my opinions
about mattsblog here last week.If he wants
            to admit
            he wronged
            us fine
            but I’m done there.

          5. trs86

Honestly we see it as two fold. Clear the air and get more readers for our site.

          6. Kingman 26

Thanks Fong! Truthfully, after this site got going, I realized I was going to the other site pretty much only to converse with and read the opinions of you and TRS and Dirty and Rusty and Case and Wanny and MRose and MetsFan 4 and QnsNative and Grave and the rest of the best, and pretty much everyone is here now.

Again, I truly feel that this site has everything that was good about Metsblog with none of the bad.

          7. prismo

Ouch! I’ve been left out. I guess I have to be louder about my opinions from now on.

          8. metsfan4decades

I too am curious to hear how he responds. I’m pretty much over the whole thing. I’m sure in no small part b/c of this site and how much better I find it AND enjoy participating.

I haven’t been over to metsblog in days. Only so much time in a day and I’m on here pretty much for the most part b/c I don’t want to miss anything.

          9. trs86

I know what you mean. The only thing I would go over to Metsblog for now would be for headlines and they pop up much quicker on the Sportsypder widget on the right sidebar. I really have no need to go there. Now if Baseballreference.com would just make a widget.

          10. metsfan4decades

And BTW, I love the widgets on this site!

  2. GravediggerHebner

Um, isn’t there a Met game Wednesday at 7:00? Or are you talking AM?

    1. dirtysanchez

Ha! well this should be interesting…did not even realize that!
      great point

  3. trs86

Guys, I mentioned this in the Dugout but we now have a Widget that you can download to where ever you want to take it. Look in the Menu bar for the link or in the lower left sidebar for the widget itself.

  4. Mr North Jersey

My 2 cents is there is nothing Matt can tell me other than admit he neglected his followers the more successful he became and since I don’t expect him to say that there is no need to bother listening to anything else he may have to say.

I do want to reiterate how proud I am of how far you guys have come in so little a time with this blog even now I was pleasantly surprised to see there is a “Real Dirty Mets Blog Widget.

I do have one question though is this Q&A something that Matt requested or you guys (you guys being “The Real Dirty Mets Blog”? I only ask strictly out of curiosity.

Phew, I think I may have said more like 4 cents :-) .

    1. trs86

Yes and know. We emailed Matt discussing our displeasure and our new site. Hoping to get on his blogroll and maybe a mention. He brought up the idea of the Q and A because he felt like he owed US an explanation.

  5. fongy2

Again Brock your last post (11:24p)
could have been written by me.
I spend way to much time on mattsblog
responding to and about the comments
of fans who in person I’d wouldn’t waste my time with. The booers, haters
and know nothings. HERE I’ve found
    the group which are knowledgable,funny
and uderstand the diff b/t a baseball
and football season, where a 3game losing streak or a slump by a star
    doesn’t mean the seasons over.
And personally to have been banned
    there previously despite not being
vulgar or too over the top was an
    insult.

    1. dentulous

+1. yea, this site, the writers and commentators are far superior than what was left behind.

      1. stickguy

The catch-22 though is that if you do too good a job, and become more and more popular, those same people will find you here!

Isn’t that effectively what happened on the old site?

Like Yogi said, “no one goes there anymore, it’s too ppular!”

        1. GravediggerHebner

Yes. I think the only difference MAY be (emphasis on MAY) is that, because we don’t have sponsors (so far) to please by showing them unique visit numbers and page view numbers, we can afford to ban quickly and decisively people who are just inappropriate.

If/when we have sponsors and money starts coming in, then I just don’t know what happens. But I can’t even comprehend that 1 week in.

        2. CaseStreet

We’ve got the real dirty moderators on 24/7 troll patrol.

        3. trs86

True, but because we have no aspirations of this being our living and the fact that one of us is almost always on we hope to limit the trolling that made the last site unbearable.

    2. trs86

Agreed Fong. We are PROUD to have you here.

  6. CaseStreet

hmm, I’m actually all over Mattsblog and haven’t even thought about the whole fiasco. I’ll pass, since I don’t care anymore. Hope it helps this site, though.

    1. fongy2

      Agreed!

    2. trs86

I think one thing it can show by being there is support for this site.

  7. mrose

as has been said in here already and I want to confirm…
if/when we get some of those trolling people who can’t say anything but DWright is terrible etc… we will patrol as necessary…
Also, i think someone brought up ads and if/when those happen, and that will be a topic of disccussion as we get larger..is how to pay for the site, we don’t want a sponsor or ad which will make us police our site in a different way

    1. trs86

Nope, if they ask us to change our comment section we will change advertisers.

  8. wannybackstra

Couldn’t be less interested in what Matt Cerrone has to say. The only reason I visited his site was for the comments section. He could do whatever he wants with his blog (and should officially change the name to Mattsblog.com because it is all about “Watch: Me Eating A Taco at Citifield”) and should. But he’s hardly interesting enough for me to read his Q&A.

I’m sure Playboy has a more interesting Q&A this month.

    1. CaseStreet

I think you meant T&A, no?

      1. There's Always '10

And here I was thinking the questions posted for Matt would mirror the questions posed for Omar a few years ago. Wish I could find a sampling of it, because it was fantastically incredible.

      2. wannybackstra

        That too, Case.
