Breaking News????

The AAA Bisons played a game todggay at 10:30am (yes you read that correctly).  In this game Figgy was excellent going 7 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, and 7 K’s.  Elmer the fud Dessens locked down the save lowering his ERA to 1.21.

So what is the breaking news?  In the 4th inning Wily Mo was pulled from the game for unexplained reasons.  Pena in his last 10 games is batting .308 with 2 HR and 7 RBI.  There have been no injury reports as of yet?  If he were to be promoted, who’s spot is he taking?  Is this part of a trade that sends someone on the current MLB team?

UPDATE: Thanks to Grave on this one.  Wily was tired of waiting to be called up to the Mets based on performance and has now decided the best way to get there is to get injured like everyone else.  Pena was pulled following an AB where he had an undisclosed injury.

If it were a trade, would Willy Mo really be part of it? He’s not really a prospect, right?

Doubt there is much to this story. He’s probably going to the DL, with a fracture of his jaw beard.

Guys I have no idea. Willy Mo himself would not be part of any deal that I would know of. However, I guess it’s possible that a guy like Church or Reed has been traded?

I like the trade theory more than just the roster machinations theory, unless it’s simply sending down FMart to get a right handed OF bat to face 3 LH Philly starters, which strikes me as a stretch.

If it is a trade, Wily Mo is probably coming up to replace a traded party, which might indicate a 2 for 1 swap of some kind. Ooohh I love trade speculation!

That is what I am guessing. Although it’s possible that Murphy could go down? He has been hitting better so that does not make sense either.

      1. GravediggerHebner

I can’t see Murphy going down, who’s going to play 1st? All Tatis, all the time doesn’t seem a good way to go.

Could Wily Mo leaving the game simply be something that happens in the minor leagues to get other guys playing time/at bats? I don’t follow the minors closely enough to know.

Maybe he’s taking FMart’s spot.. or he has personal reasons…

AHHHH!!! just like that my bubble was burst.

  12. DNDJohan aka kistics

This is just my wild wild hunch, but Omar will not do anything… he’ll make a minor move or two, but no major power acquisitions…

Kinda like last year with the bullpen.

    1. rustyjr

U mean like every year since 06? LOL

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        yeah something like that… sigh…

Anyone think Halladay is a better pitcher than Santana? This is no insult, but I think he is.

    1. trs86

Depends, really different types of pitchers. Halladay is going to go deeper in the game but maybe give up more runs.

    2. DNDJohan aka kistics

I would say that… you won’t know until they are in the same team….

    3. GravediggerHebner

I don’t think it’s an insult at all. Now if you said CC Sabathia, then I would, but Halladay, no. I consider Halladay and Santana the 2 best starting pitchers in baseball right now, and I give Halladay a slight edge because he finishes what he starts significantly more often.

      1. wannybackstra

If we’re only talking about right now, i.e. not considering past performance, then Zack Greinke has to be part of the discussion too.

      2. There's Always '09

I think these two are the Maddux/Pedro of their time. Halladay is just a complete game machine. That’s two straight complete games. He threw about 140 pitches in his last one. When trading for a guy like Halladay, nobody on your roster is untouchable. I can’t see Toronto ever trading him for anything less than two top notch prospects and a very good major leaguer.

    4. DNDJohan aka kistics

      udontmesswiththejohan!

  17. DNDJohan aka kistics

Pena is probably day-to-day.. and sits out 3-4 games…. and then plays one game only to find out that he needs a surgery…. so he’ll be out 8-10 weeks…

  18. wannybackstra

This post reminds me of Mattsblog.com’s response to all of its factual and grammatical errors: the blog is more concerned with speed than accuracy.

But I applaud TRS for being so on top of things as to notice that Willy Mo left a minor league game early.
