So, 3 against Philly (best road team in ML) at Citi, then off to play a hot Yankees team at The Wind Tunnel. I’ll be happy if we split the games and go 3-3.

I’m hoping for 5-1 just so we font have to hear both moron fan bases crow

      1. darknova306

Hahaha! I’ll second that. Problem is, we’ll be hearing it from those fanbases until we actually win something…

        1. rustyjr

          no argument there

We need to win this first game tonight with Johan on the mound. That will set the tone for this week. If we lose this one tonight, that’s going to be a tough loss to come back from.

      Agreed my lady

I think we’ll need to win this first game tomorrow with Johan on the mound because this is going to get rained out. This weather is scary. I just looked outside my window and it looks like the giant spaceship from Independence Day is hovering over earth and blocking the sun. I’ll be back. Going under my desk with Suzyn Waldman.

Agreed. Let’s set the tone early by coming out of the corner and punching these jerkwads right in the face with a hard left hook.

Too bad none of these games are on national TV, so Jimmy Rollins can show the world what kind of All Star shortstop he is.

I can’t believe he’s leading the vote! Even beerleaguer says it’s an embarrassment.

For as much as I hate the casual Phillies fan, they have some good fans on that site.

I don’t mind a fan of another team that knows his baseball. Just can’t stand loud, obnoxious people that cheer for the Phillies because the Eagles will never win anything. Not because they like baseball. Unfortunately, last year I had the priviledge of sitting near them two out of the three Mets/Phils games I have gone to.

Per Buster Olney and why the mets may want to trade Jose Reyes:

“I don’t see a lot of evolution there,” said one scout this week. “Jimmy Rollins struggled early in his career, but then he just kept getting better and better, and I’m not really seeing that in Reyes.”

I mean do these people watch the same games as everyone else. Rollins is a good player, but he’s not nearly as good as Jose.

      1. There's Always '09

I think Buster Olney watched every Phillies game in 2007 and his observation is based solely on that.

He plays in a bandbox of a ballpark, which account for the power numbers. He is also 30(31?) to Jose’s 25. Buster Olney needs to buy himself a clue and Jon Miller a new shirt.

        1. rustyjr

Buster used to cover Philly sports and it is well known that he is a Philly shill

        2. udontmesswthejohan

          Yeah – 31.

What bothers me about this kind of talk is that if Reyes doesn’t improve one iota over the next few years, he is still a front line player who, with the exception of possibly the Marlins, every other team in baseball would want.

Their argument is essentially that you should trade him cause he is great but he is not as great as he should be.

          1. rustyjr

            Agreed

          2. There's Always '09

Only guy he would be in a package for is Halladay. End of story.

      2. darknova306

Rollins keeps getting better and better? Wow. Is he trying to ruin his credibility any more than it already is? Rollins isn’t a terrible player, but give me a break, Olney! What a shill.

        1. udontmesswthejohan

To be fair, that was Olney quoting a “scout”. I’m not sure who the scout was or if he is currently employed.

          1. darknova306

Yeah, but that kind of ridiculous quote shouldn’t be printed in the first place. He’s just looking to stick it to the Mets anyway he can. (Sorry, he gets on slack from me; I can’t stand Olney).
