This day in Mets infamy with Rusty 6/10/09

Godd morning to all you Mets fans out there its time for everyones favorite fountain of Mets information that is “this date in Mets infamy with Rusty” so lets begin.

First off celebrating a birthday is one time highly touted Mets prospect ( who was later traded for some obscure player) that had a long and prosperous M.L.B career with the Orioles and now is the best commentator on the Mike Fatcessa Channel Ken Singleton (1947)
Sadly on this date Lindsey “and the Amazing Technicolor Sports Jacket” Nelson passed away (1995) -I admit I have vauge memories of Lindsey put from what i remember he was the perfect foil to Ralph and Murph’s serious demeanor

New York Mets purchased journey man pitcher Bob “JAWS!” Shaw from the San Francisco Giants on June 10, 1966.

New York Mets traded decent starting pitcher for the mid “60′s team Jack Hamilton to the California Angels for Nick “Willhite will travel” Willhite on June 10, 1967.

New York Mets signed free agent Doug “HAIRBREATH HARRY” Sisk on June 10, 1980. – funny thing is if you look at sisks career stats with the Mets he rally wasn’t that bad – 17-16 with a career e.r.a. of a little over 3 and over 30 saves in a 8 year career for our team

New York Mets signed free agent journeyman pitcher Eric Gunderson on June 10, 1993.

New York Mets traded one time prospect Shawn “Grape” Gilbert to the St. Louis Cardinals for Wayne “pickle” Kirby on June 10, 1998.
and the Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day – his favorite band is Vanillia Fudge and his favorite song is “I Want Candy” by Bow Wow Wow

Good morning all. Well last night was fantastic. I hope we can take this series. I hate the Philths. Did anyone see Vicky’s face as he watched K-Rod celebrate? Man I hate that guy.

I still think Jerry Manuel needs to get the boot. I can’t believe he didn’t argue that miscall at the plate. Time to bring back Bobby V. (Of course I know it isn’t happening, but I can rant).

How about Church’s homer? Wow. He is so important at this point in time. We really need him to come through.

That’s something that’s bothered me about Jerry; he doesn’t argue much. He’s too passive, in my opinion.

i think you are off base on that oh darkone – - i think by the time tat-man told jerry he was safe it was too late to argue – besides that call wouldnt be overturned anyway – u know these umps

I think you are 100% right Rusty.

Plus, we have been absolutely decimated by injuries, we are 22-13 since the slow start, we are 2 games out of first, and we are in the wild card lead.

This is a poor time to call for Jerry to be fired.

To be fair, I’ve wanted Jerry fired since the end of last year, and I won’t back down on that. I said it’s something that’s been bothering me. Not arguing that specific play isn’t that bad, in my opinion, but overall I think he’s been too sedate for this team.

Sure, 22-13 since the slow start while decimated by injuries, but the schedule this month is still going to be a meat grinder. I don’t see us holding up through the end of June, but they may surprise me. And if we continue giving it away to scrub teams, we’ll see Houston destroy our hopes on the last day of this season…

Yeah, that’s the thing about Jerry. If you want to use the team’s record as the metric look at who they’ve given games away to. It’s too inconsistent.

Kingman, we’d be in first place if it weren’t for Jerry’s antics. He made a mockery of baseball with the Santos for Castro substitution. He sticks with his hunches way too much and he seems confused week by week.

I don’t think the call is overturned, but some of these arguments are to establish that you are “owed” a call. Those umps need to know that you know that was a blown call.

Yeah churchies homer was a bomb

      Nice.

Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it
Get yourself an egg and beat it
Have some more chicken, have some more pie
It doesnt matter if its boiled or fried
Just eat it, eat it, just eat it, eat it
Just eat it, eat it, just eat it, eat it, ooh
