    LOL, that is great.

  2. trs86

By the way, over at Mets Fever they bring up the thought of Wiggy again. He is struggling and would not take much to get and see if more regular playing time would pull him out. Put him at 1B and OF?

    1. Kingman 26

      Yes please!

  3. CaseStreet

tnx, prismo. Don’t know what we’d do w/o you.

  4. CaseStreet

any thoughts on Mets pushing Maine back in the rotation?

I’d have to think this is just to give Maine an extra day rest, yes?

    1. stickguy

probably just to give him more time to rest. ANd after getting abused in Boston again, maybe the Satans will be bamboozled by Livans mysterious assortment of pitches.

    2. mrose

David Lennon tweeted that if he has a bad start sat he has to go for tests on his shoulder

      1. charlies

This is what drives me crazy about this team and its medical staff: if he needs tests on his shoulder, he should get tests on his shoulder. Why wait until he has another bad start? If the team thinks there is something wrong, what the hell are they waiting for?

Maine’s pitching performance on Sat can be completely average (for him) and then what? Oh, forget the tests, he’s fine. And then five days later, he stinks and there’s something wrong with his shoulder?

        This team is a joke.

        1. billydeewilliams

I think we just see it more because this team has more injuries…and we follow this team closely, but think about the way the phils handled Lidge. It was the same idea. wait it out and see if it gets better, and when it finally hits that boiling point, send him to the dl.

not saying i agree with it at all. i just think it probably happens all over the league, but we see it more.

          1. charlies

Yeah, but in the meantime, he could make worse what the team suspects could be an injury. It’s not like these tests are that big of a deal.

          2. billydeewilliams

i completely agree. they handle it like retards. certainly not defending them…especially if maine is forced to miss a start or go on the disabled list.

    1. dirtysanchez

lol i want to meet Mr. G ;p

  8. Kingman 26

Prismo, this is a great daily feature, and the graphics are awesome.

I mean, one day we get a live and moving satellite weather map, and today this!

    Thanks man!

  9. dirtysanchez

40% huh….we better grab the lead early

    1. GravediggerHebner

60% chance the Phillies come back?

      1. rustyjr

        shut yer mouth !!!

  10. metfreak

I have zero hope for the Mets tonight I

    1. metfreak

I am hoping for a rain delay

    2. Kingman 26

      Zero hope?

      We could win 12–11!!

      1. metfreak

Depends on which Moyer shows up The Mets make him look like CyYoung at times

        1. Kingman 26

Sad but very true…however, last year Redding was 3–1 against the Phils, with just 1 HR allowed in 29 IP.

Now does the hope go to 1 or 2%??

          :-)

          1. rustyjr

lol he is still tim redding – not jerry kooseman kong lol – i will think positive thoughts i will think positive thoughts :)

          2. Kingman 26

Frankly, with those lefty power bats, I cannot imagine how Redding shut them down!

Maybe Utley and Howard sat a couple of those games…and Ibanez was in Seattle.

Hey guys we have talked alot recently especially the last few weeks how the mets have been battling hard with so many men on the DL. Even it may be safe to say over achieving somewhat. I agree entirely that they have been fighting hard. But here comes today just a regular humid Thursday June day in NYC. Obviously too early in the year to erase the demons of the past 2 years. Too early to show the phils we are here this year and will fight tooth and nail to the end. Or is it? I think u get my point. Huge game in my mind obviously from a standings point of view that goes without saying with this schedule. But more importantly can we win the big game?? We had no problem beating the phils in reg season and other teams.it’s when the pressure is on and it’s time to put up or shut up. Let’s go mets!!

    1. Kingman 26

Yeah, it is early and we have a lot more games with them left, but after the last two days, and considering it is a 2 game swing in the standings, and we head to Yankee Stadium next, a win tonight would be very, very huge.

      1. Joe R

Exactly and they have been battling and playing hard this series but can they get that W? Can they make that big defensive play, can they get that big single in the 8th, can they get that lucky break. Can they do what it takes to win!! I hope so.

        1. Kingman 26

Yeah, me too….last night sucked as much as Tuesday was awesome.

If that is even a sentence.

  12. rustyjr

talk about nepotism – as per mlbtr
The Philadelphia Daily News notes that the Phillies drafted Robert Amaro, the nephew of GM Ruben Amaro Jr

  13. DNDJohan aka kistics

Hey Prismo, can you make it rain around 8PM if Redding gets shelled and Moyer is shutting us down?

    1. rustyjr

PRISMO: “DAMNNIT DNDJohan aka kistics !!! I’M A METEOROLOGIST NOT A MOHAWK INDIAN !!!”

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

        sorry….

        1. rustyjr

          lol

  14. DNDJohan aka kistics

It looks like FMart is taking Church’s place in tonight’s line up.

    1. Kingman 26

      Good!

I am with Oleo on Church at this point.

As Dennis Green might have said, he is exactly what we thought he is.

      1. Joe R

Is he really out of the lineup?? U know I don’t even care about matchups, percentages etc at this point. How can church ever be a big part of this team. How can he ever get that big game winning homerun. Jeez we are playing our division rival! Give him a chance to be a part and a big piece of the 2009 Mets!!

  15. stickguy

I just worry about Church tonight since he is a FB hitter, and Moyer doesn’t have a FB. You know the old man would just throw slop at his feet, and Church will flail at it.

Shold be a nice test for F Mart though. I’m liking what I see out of this kid.

F Mart and Thole in 2010. SPlurge on a 1B and LF bat (trading Church and Murphy if needed), and they could be good to go.

Oh yeah, unload Castillo too if he is still alive.

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

FMart has been little jumpy at the plate though. So, Moyer may use that against him.

Moyer is more than twice FMart’s age.

      1. stickguy

Like I said, a good test.

And Martinez has the quick bat that should let him wait to really see the pitch. That should help agianst a slopper like Moyer, since you don’t have to worry about him blowing a FB by you.

        1. DNDJohan aka kistics

          Good point.

  16. smooth

The rangers have signed Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez to a minor league deal. Apparently the bunion has healed after 2 years!

    1. DNDJohan aka kistics

      beat me to it.

    2. Kingman 26

Ah, and people wonder why the Rangers are the only MLB team to have never won a playoff series!

  17. DNDJohan aka kistics

    Rangers signed El Duque

  18. mrose

hey – got this from mlbtr

Multiple news outlets are reporting that the Rays watched Pedro Martinez work out. MLBTR does not normally link to material on Listin Diario (Spanish) or Herald de Paris, but both suggest the Rays watched the free agent righty work out.

Michael Weber, a producer for WTSP 10 in St. Petersburg reports through his Twitter that the Rays confirmed they had someone “watch Pedro” (Hat Tip: Rays Index).

Marc Lancaster of the Tampa Tribune writes: “I’ve heard that one of the Rays’ officials in the Dominican who has known Pedro for a while just watched him work out, but it doesn’t sound like the team expects anything to come of it.”

Check out Rays Index for the full chronology and analysis. My question: could Martinez perhaps contribute out of the bullpen?

if true – good luck Petey
    ill be pulling for you

  21. metsfan4decades

Ha! Love this post. Looking forward now to the daily game weather update.

  22. saltygary

Dammit is Redding really pitching tonight. ARGHHH

    1. Kingman 26

Redding was 3–1 against the Phils last year, with just 1 HR allowed in 29 IP.

      1. saltygary

        Stop being so damn positive…

If he starts coming undone he needs to start a fight at least.

    2. GravediggerHebner

Tim Redding is awesome (occasionally, maybe tonight).

    3. saltygary

He at least made a nice play to start the inning.
