Too funny. Wish it wasn’t at our expense.

One pretty ugly game. I can only hope that nothing is wrong with Johan and this really bad start, and a couple of not so sharp ones lately is not indicative of some underlying problem that will come to light. That would just be the straw that broke the camels back.

From your mouth to God’s ears.

This post game almost makes it worth the loss!

Don’t worry peeps, I’m sure Johan’s just injured and he’ll need Tommy John or something. (yep, I jinxed it)

  3. stickguy

    Nice write up.

But, remember, it still only counts as 1 lose. And a bad day debacle blow out is in some ways better than a heartbreaking gut wrencher (like Friday).

Hopefully Johan is just out of sync, but man, the warning flags are up.

And if he is hurt, it will remind everyone that it is dangerous to sign a pitcher to a very long term, huge $$ contract.

were doing moderation for profanity now? come on Guys,, take the filter off

      F@ck and sh#t.

  6. jonnyballgame

Screw it. We’ve all been playing nice but now its time to get the claws out. WTF was that sh!t. That was the most disgusting displays I’ve seen by a Mets team in a long long time. And as much as I hate to bring it up again… Where is the god dam$ GRIT and PRIDE. Santana gets knocked around and the team just said fu@k it,Game is over,, poor us.. The fu@king mentality of this crew is so played out. If an equally talented club is playing at the top of there game and being clutch——– OUR TEAM FOLDS..

IMO its the way the organization is run from the top down. And when they get these puppets as middle management you get a neutered spirit throughout the entire organization. Everybody’s afraid to step on everybody’s toes. And this causes a leaderless environment. Everybody plays nice with each other.

We need a leader who doesn’t have a filter, who calls it like it is. From top to bottom,, we have passive aggressive management. Seriously everybody acts the same! Jeff, Omar and Jerry all have the same mentality. Where are the old school baseball guys? The guys that don’t give a sh!t about politics and just care about winning and baseball.

So flame away,, I’m ready for a good argument.

    1. metsfan4decades

Where is the old school baseball guys? Uh, that would be Krod. Just saw the altercation with him and Bruney and heard Big Pelfs comments about it on the post game show (Krod refused to comment on that there).

Pelfrey said KRod is a gamer, goes after everyone on the mound, and apparently has the same mentality off the mound. Mike chuckled and said ‘I kind of liked that’. But he went over quick b/c he didn’t want to see KRod get into any kind of fight over it. He was being careful in comments but he said KRod was doing all the talking and Bruney, nothing.

      You go Krod.

      1. jonnyballgame

metsfna4decades.. You just proved my point…

Pre game altercation that should of gotten every single player in the clubhouse looking for blood and the Yankees came out and embarrassed us.

        1. metsfan4decades

I don’t see it that way. Watching Pelfry talk, I think they all treated Bruney as a joke, not a threat to the team or it’s ‘manhood’.

          1. metsfan4decades

But I hear your frustration, Johnny. I wish they’d come out with guns blazing too giving everyone the message they mean business.

          2. jonnyballgame

Well isn’t that the problem? This team doesn’t know how to man up. KRod didn’t seem to treat it like a joke!! So if everyone else in that clubhouse is then there is a serious disconnect.

          3. metsfan4decades

O.K., I see where you’re coming from. Being female myself, ‘manning up’ is not an issue we ever have to deal with so I’m probably out in left field with that mindset.

But I can understand it b/c damn – I loved that ’86 team and if there was ever one team you could point to that wasn’t gonna take no sh*t from anyone, it was them. LOL.

        2. dirtysanchez

does anyone know where i can see a video of it..

          1. metsfan4decades

Sorry, Dirty – I don’t. I just caught it all on the post game show. First they showed the altercation again (b/c apparently they showed it on the pre game but I missed that), then they showed Pelfrey’s interview on it. They just said Krod declined to comment but Pelf had some comments for the media and they showed that.

Pelfrey did a good job. You could tell he wanted to say way more, like exactly what KRods comments were to Bruney but he declined to quote those. Dang….

          2. jonnyballgame

depends on what video your talking about. ;) I’m an internet video legend. I could link you to my greatest hits or you could watch SNY or maybe sny.tv

    2. darknova306

Preach it, brother! This team has been mentally weak for years all throughout the organization. We need a wholesale house cleaning. Some sort of midnight massacre kinda thing. Purge the organization of a lot of the weak crap. Front office, coaching staff, players, everything should be touched.

  7. gland

who is this leader of whom you speak?

    1. jonnyballgame

Someone with the spirit of Earl Weaver would be really good for this team right now.

      1. Kingman 26

Bobby V? Davey J? Buck Showalter? Tim Teufel?

I am now firmly in the Jerry must go camp.

Not because he is horrible, but because we need optimal execution with all of the injuries we have, and Jerry has proven totally incapable of producing that.

Last night, Santos gets caught in a rundown when on 2nd with 2 outs and a grounder hit to third…today, we cannot execute a rundown.

Every day, we see something which shows we have far from serious regard for fundamanentals.

        1. jonnyballgame

It doesn’t even have to be the manager. But you can’t have everyone signing the same song. ie Jeff,Omar and Jerry..

I don’t know why someone thought it was a good idea to create this singularly corporate vibe that the mets have. Maybe Bobby V scared the sh!t out of them, I don’t know.. but this recipe does not work.

        2. jonnyballgame

If Bobby V is not an option, I would hire Ron Darling. He is the perfect mix of everything we need. Brilliant mind, Fire in his heart, but is disciplined and emotionally in control. He would know when its time to get angry and when its time to lay off.

    lmaooooooooooooooooooooooo

  9. metsfan4decades

O.K. Johan said on post game show he feels fine. There is nothing wrong. No excuses, he just did not execute his pitches well and against a good offensive team, well, you can’t get away with it. Over and over he said there ‘no excuses, I just did not execute my pitches well at all’.

Said kind of off handed, that in the past month he had some back soreness and a fingernail problem but he’s 100% fine.
Bobby O said if he was pitching through pain for a couple of starts his mechanics might be a touch off but he can get that back. Said even though starting Tuesday, they have no off days for 20 straight days, that might be a good thing for him, to get back into his rhythm for pitching and off day work for pitching. Also said he doesn’t think there is a physical problem either b/c if he was in pain now, no pitches would be getting up to 92 MPH, he’d be topping off in the high 80s. Said he’s only a couple off and he’ll get that back when he gets the mechanics where he needs them to be.

Santana was clearly a little perturbed though. Didn’t exactly come out and say it this way but something to the effect that with the start (of the season) he had, some were expecting perfection and it’s just not going to happen. Said he believes this was the worst start of his career, it happened, and he’ll just have to come back out next start and put it behind him.

Grave, you have truly outdone your normally outstanding self with these graphics.

I was laughing with the frau carrying twelve beers, but the guy (Grant Roberts??) with his head in the bag of weed had me cracking up.

Thanks for the needed Met-related laugh!!!

I think its time we starting talking Ron Darling for manager. Pay him whatever he wants. This man gets it.

    1. gipperpdx

Darling may be a tad cerebral for this bunch, and he has a good gig as it is.

    2. dirtysanchez

then we should also try for hernandez for hitting coach, gary for bench coach

      1. jonnyballgame

Gary in a uniform would be priceless. but I’m serious about Ronny. If he ever decides to come down, he could become one hell of a skipper.

    3. darknova306

Ronnie is a true champion, and understands exactly what it takes to win. His knowledge and understanding of the game are immense. He knows how to play the game right way, and he would instill that in his players. I’d love to see him in the dugout.

  12. smooth

Multiple twitter sources are reporting Santana has a blister on his middle finger that has been affecting his fastball. So that explains the lack of control and velocity. I am deeply dissapointed in what i saw today, and i fully expect johan to perform as his usual self from here on out

Okay, I used to like this blog, now I love it. You guys are doing a hell of a job, keep it up.

Great post, Grave. It dulls the pain a bit to have a good laugh.

If this site survives this year, it will be because of how lucky I am to have chosen the best Mets writers in the blog industry. I dare you to find some that are better. Great job Grave.
