This Day In Mets Infamy with Rusty 6/14/09

Good morning to you my friends its the it’s 3 A.M on Sunday morning and i’m on my way to the airport edition of “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” . So without further ado….
New York Mets purchased journey man reliever Jack “ACK ACK” Aker from the Atlanta Braves on June 14, 1974. – He had a decent season with the Mets until M Donald Grant Banished him to the furthest end of the earth ( Cleveland?)
New York Mets traded Marvell “MAHHHVALOUS” Wynne and Steve ” Let me finish a sentence” Senteney to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Junior “JUNIOR!!!” Ortiz and Art “Aldo” Ray on June 14, 1983. – Junior was a decent hitting catcher but with both John Gibbons and Mike Fitzgerald set to make the team in “84 he was deemed “expendable”…

And lastly – I’m on my way down to New Orleans and rumor has it Mo Vaughn will be down there too — DAMN I HOPE HE DOESN’T EAT THE BIG EASY OUT OF CRAWDADDIES !!!!

    Have fun Rusty!

And unfortunately, Mo Vaughn was indeed in New Orleans last week, so I am guessing all that will be left to eat is broccoli, asparagus, and maybe some tired-looking lettuce…

I loved watching Junior Ortiz catch in his Tony Pena style.

Enjoy NOLA Rusty. My fave NOLA story is, when I was visiting there a native told me that the reason there is a statue of Robert E. Lee looking north across from the YMCA is because YMCA stands for “Yankees May Come Again.”
