Good Morning my friends it’s time for the mid a.m edition of “This day in Mets infamy with Rusty” – hope I havent missed much (Johan didn’t need to get his lef amputated yet? has he???!!??) Okay so lets get this show on the road shall we.

Calvin “scrub” Schiraldi (1962) – damn it was nice to see us rough him up during the ’86 World Series

Baltimore Orioles claimed light hitting outfielder Rich “Boris” Becker of the New York Mets on waivers on June 16, 1998.

New York Mets signed free agent Heath “Face rings a ” Bell on June 16, 1998. – damn I miss him – he woulda been aces for us last year but hey we have Frankie R now !!!
and lastly the Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day – he originally wanted to be a ballerina but he couldn’t do a pleie

    I don’t know why but I’ve always liked Minnesota Twins outfielders, my whole life. Forever I wanted the Mets to get Tom Brunansky. When they got Rich Becker I was ecstatic. Didn’t really work out though. Kubel would rake at Citi.

    Heath Bell….I guess we never really gave him a chance, huh? Although when we had him, not sure there was anything to indicate he’d be other than ordinary….
