This Date In Mets Infamy 6/17/09

Good morning to all my fellow Mets fans it’s time for yet another Big Easy edition of “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty”, so get on your feet and dance to a zydeco beat!!! (sorry lost in the moment lol )
Celebrating birthdays today is late season call up for the ’72 team Brian “try saying my name 5 times fast” Ostrosser (1949) – he played in only 5 games , never earned a hit and faded into obscurity
also celebrating a b-day is former coach and decent player for the Mariners Mickey “”HEY MICKEY” Brantley (1961)
New York Mets traded mediocre starting pitcher Kevin Kobel to the Kansas City Royals for mediocre player Randy McGilberry on June 17, 1980.

New York Mets traded Dave “Yankee BOOO!!” “Weathers and Jeremy Griffiths to the Houston Astros for washed up outfielder Richard Hidalgo on June 17, 2004. – damn I cringe when i think of the Art Howe era

And lastly Mo Vaughn was sighted at the local Crispy Creme store … sadly there were no survivors

If I remembe correctly Hidalgo was one of our best players that year following the trade. Or he was at least good for a short period of time after we aquired him.

It used to be called “Krispy Kreme” but Mo Vaughn ate the straight part of the letter K leaving only C behind.
