Deadliest Warrior Pics, Bisons vs Knights

victoryaaa

Friday night I had the pleasure of having a trifecta.  I was able to go watch the AAA Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights and then by grace of cellphone also keep up with the Mets and Phillies games.  And based on a small baseball miracle I was able to go 3-0.  What a great night.

Buffalo jumped out to an early lead and never looked back spearing the Knights 10-3.  Before the game Willy Mo prepared himself by taking one here:  willymo

Once the game started in the first inning NotquitesoAwful Reyes (3/6 on the night .294 season BA) singled and then stole 2nd base.  areyesAfter a fly out by Cory Sullivan, Emil Brown hit a no doubt bomb to CF to plate Reyes and give the Bisons a 2-0 lead.brownandobe

In the 2nd inning Robinson Cancel reached on a fielder’s choice and then as usual stole 2nd base in a very confusing fashion.  Then TheAwesome Reyes hit a double to the gap to bring him home.  Bisons 3-0.

In the 3rd inning with one out Brown’s fellow Bash Brother Wily Mo Pena hit a HR on a towering fly ball to LF.  Following the HR, the Knights pitcher seemed to lose his composure and walked Chip Ambres and gave up a single to Jesus Feliciano.  Javier, not Luis, Castillo then plated Ambres with a single to RF.  Bisons 5-0.

In the 5th inning the hits kept coming.  3 straight singles by Ambres, Feliciano and Castillo plated Castillo.  Following a fly out by Cancel, Castillo stole 2nd base and then Feliciano scored on a wild pitch.  Castillo later came home on a sac fly by Luis Rivera.  TheAwesomeAllstar Reyes followed with a double to LF and scored on a single from Cory Sullivan. Bisons 9-1.

In the 6th inning, Wily Mo tried his best to audition for the major league Mets by getting injured running to 1B.  He was safe but had to leave the game.

In the 8th inning again tbe Bisons come up with 3 singles by Sullivan, Abreu, and Ambres.  Sullivan later scored on a fielder’s choice to plate the game’s last run and put the Bisons up 10-3.

On the pitching side of the game for the Bisons, Stoner looked dominant in the beginning of the game not giving up a hit until the 3rd inning.  He left the game after a difficult 6th inning where he battled but gave up 2 runs.  Stoner’s final line was 6 innings, 9 hits, 1 walk, 3 K’s and 3 ER.  Again he pitched MUCH better than the final line indicates, thowing 92 pitches with 63 of them for strikes.   Kyle Snyder and Connor Robertson came in to close the door pitching 3 scoreless innings.

Stoner sounds like he must have been reading Pelfrye’s new book “Schizophrenic pitching”.

I wonder if Reyes has any potential at all to become decent at the ML level? Didn’t give signs of it last year, but heck, even A Hernandez has been OK this year for the Nats, so who knows?

Not like Luis set the 2B bar very high. A decent OBP is the only requirement.

Sounds like a fun night. I really enjoyed reading Reyes’ progressively greater names.
