This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty 6/22/09

Good morning to all you cranky Mets fans out there. It’s time for the back to work edition of ” This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” so sink your teeth into these interesting Mets facts
Celebrating a birthday today is perenial second string backstop Ron ( I wish I was Gil ) Hodges (1949)

New York Mets traded Jack “HEIDY HO !” Heidemann to the Milwaukee Brewers for Tom “WHO!” Deidel on June 22, 1976.

New York Mets released Mike “BEANBALL” Torrez on June 22, 1984. – I still cringe when I think of him accidently beaning Dickie Thon in the head. Thon’s career was essentially over at that point even after a brief comeback attempt

New York Mets purchased Ed ” nice mugshot” Glynn from the Cleveland Indians on June 22, 1984 – I remember him on the team in 1080 but I don’t remember him on the ’84 team

And today’s Mo Vaughn factoid of the day – ” He likes to chew the fat”

Was Ed Glynn the guy who as a kid was a hot dog vendor at Shea?
