Had a bad storm hit at 7pm last night, in which we immediately lost power (which wasn’t restored until 12:30am). So for the first time in probably 40 years I listened to the entire game on an emergency battery operated radio. Sat on the porch, watching the lightening and rain come down, bringing back so many memories of my youth listening to games on the radio and remembering how much fun that could be. Back in the day, we only had one TV and occasionally I was over ruled on wanting to watch the game. I could almost hear Bob Murphy’s voice…..

I’m glad I missed this one ‘in person’. Oh, but listening to Howie and Wayne describe the 2nd inning was just painful. That was one ugly game. And on it rained here, until at least 10pm. I kept hoping, after that 2nd inning, the storm would head towards Flushing and call that game but sadly that was not to be…..

Howie described Pelf getting increasingly agitated, as error after error was made behind him, bloop hits dropped in, close calls were ruled balls and ‘no swing’. At one point, even though it was only 4-0, Howie reported there was action in the BP and Jerry might be speculating about getting him out of there. Did he really look that visibly upset? I give him credit though b/c outside of that one inning, he did limit the hits and damage.

Not that it mattered as we couldn’t get anything going against Sabathia but man, our BP last night was just awful. And how in the hell we are only a 1/2 game out is a miracle. This whole division is really playing poor so far this year.

Yes he did. He was pacing around the mound and after a pitch call he didn’t like he would turn to face toward the outfield and yell something. His body language was really obviously that of someone who was displeased. I sure hope that someone tells him that opposing teams feed off that sort of thing, although ultimately he handled his displeasure with a home plate umpire last night better than Cole Hamels did.

Came across this old blog post of a fashion designer that is a huge NY Mets fan. Apparently she was featured on Mets Weekly but I don’t recall ever seeing it. If you need an original Mets outfit for your Lady then give her a ring.

Ha! Here’s a tag for the latest Beerleaguer post this morning:
(Weitzel actually copied this comment in his previous post and led off with it as a tag for this morning’s post).

    Dear Phillies,

Thank you for allowing my decimated and mediocre ball club to continue to stay in the “race” for the summer while we nurse our guys back to health. Your kindness does not go unnoticed.

    Your friend,
    Mets fan
