Hey guys you have come to the place to forget about last nights beating we took at the hands of the Yankees. It’s time for the daily edition of “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” . So pull up a chair, drink your hair of the dog and lets forget about last night.
First off, celebrating birthdays today are former Philthie middle reliever that we traded Rico Brogna for – Ricardo “Rickey” Jordan (1970)
And also one year older today is ex utility infielder Chris “Bernstein” Woodward (1976)
On this date some good news happened – New York Mets signed free agent Ed Kranepool on June 27, 1962. Krane would play the next 17 years with the organization as a first baseman / outfielder and was used primarily as a pinch hitter later in his career.
New York Mets released relief pitcher Tom “You can’t polish a turd” Sturdivant on June 27, 1964. – He actually had a long career spaning teams from the Yankees to the Pirates and Senators before coming to the Mets.
New York Mets signed free agent pitcher Roy Lee “Leeroy” Jackson on June 27, 1975.
and lastly the Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day – his favorite television show growing up was Davey and Goliath

I remember being a kid an out in the yard playing wiffle ball, and being Roy Lee Jackson on the mound. I gave up lots of hits.
