CAN WE GET WIL FERREL OR SHERMAN HEMSLEY TO PLAY THE PART OF JERRY MANUAEL?

A little out of the box, but if that’s what it takes to get rid of Jerry and get a new manager, why not?

Oh, you menat IN the movie. I get it now.

I know this isn’t all jerry’s fault – but i’m expecting a little more anger from his press confrences

I guess I’m one of the few who isn’t willing to blame Jerry or hang this all on him. I’m also realistic enough though to have been scratching my head a couple of times with decisions he’s made.

Watching baseball for alot of years I’m firmly convinced there are very few managers that are out and out great. (Noticed I said few as some do come to mind right off the bat).
Most are knowledgeable enough. However, it’s not so much ‘great manager’ but the chemistry between the team and the players at the particular place in time. Torre comes to mind. He didn’t do much as manager of the Mets but went on to great success with the Yankees. Was it inexperience when he managed the Mets? Or just not the right guy, for that team, at that time?

We the exception of a few lately (Bobbi Cox, etc.), have you noticed that the same pool of managers just make the rounds from team to team? Manage a few years, get fired, go on to manage another team? Lou Pinella comes to mind. I think he’s managed like 5 different teams.

That being said, having seen just about all the games this year, I think we could have had maybe 2 more wins, depending on the outcome of some moves Jerry made or failed to make. And I don’t think there is any way they’re firing Jerry right now – for a few reasons. They’re not going to risk becoming a laughingstock, firing two managers in a 12 month period. They’re not going to pay for all these managers they’re firing. And more importantly, I think management is giving him a pass due to the extensive injuries on this team and having to manage with what he’s got to work with.
