      Murph leading off?

      1. sabermetrician

Seriously? That’s idiotic. Jerry needs to have his head examined. Murphy has a low OBP, he doesn’t take pitches, he’s not particularly fast, and there are at least 2 other players in the lineup better suited for that position in the lineup.

        1. Mr North Jersey

But don’t you think when your offense has struggled the last 2 nights its a good time to shake things up I mean can it be any worse than last night?

          1. sabermetrician

I believe in shaking things up, but you should still apply logic to what you are doing. Why not bat Livan eighth and Wright seventh?

          2. Mr North Jersey

Logic hasn’t worked the last 2 nights but maybe your right it’s just to me when you shake things up is doing the opposite of what you would normally do.

          3. sabermetrician

Perhaps, but why have one of the worst bats in the lineup get the most PAs in the game? But here’s to anything that will get us a win.

          4. Mr North Jersey

            Here, Here!

Miller Park has a retractable roof so we don’t have to worry about the weather there too much.

    1. prismo

Oh hey, good point! Is it temperature controlled as well?

      1. sabermetrician

I believe so, but not 100% sure on that.

CERRONE HAS INFILTEATED THE HIDEOUT !!! ALL MEN TO BATTLE STATIONS !!! :p

  4. sabermetrician

We really need to start winning. With the Philthies looking like they’ve ironed things out and the Braves getting a much needed victory today we can’t afford to keep losing so many games.

    From Bart Hubbuch’s Twitter (http://twitter.com/NYPost_Mets):

Jerry Manuel said trading for a bat is a “no-brainer” if the #Mets fall below .500 soon. “Just being honest,” he added.

    1. GravediggerHebner

If the Mets were only being run by someone with no brain. Lately the Mets seem to be being run by a brain from a container labeled “Abby Something.”

      1. stickguy

Jerry is no better than any caller to WFAN. Omar, do something! get a big bat! and a Pitcher! why aren’t you making moves!

Of course, Jerry will also complain if he trades someone he was planning to use.

        1. rustyjr

          Abbby Normal I think master

          1. rustyjr

hey stick why do u still post on the “other” blog?? lol try to recruit kickedinthemetsticles xavier and a couple of the old guard to come here

          2. stickguy

too much free time. And they deserve some prime talent once in a while too.

        2. gategem

Jerry’s job is to win ballgames now. It will do him no good if intelligent moves by Omar give the Mets a championship team in two years but Jerry is then the 1st base coach of Kansas City.

          1. rustyjr

            very true gate

    2. trs86

Prismo, you gotta post stuff like this. It’s fine.
Looks like he said Ollie and Redding may share starts too. LOL.

      1. stickguy

you mean Ollie throws 100 pitches and struggles through 3 innings, Redding pitches 4-8, and K Rod for the save?

They are actaully doing that with 2 guys in the minors (alternating starts I think, and using 1 to back up the other)

        1. rustyjr

who showed up today ? good ollie or bad ollie?

          1. rustyjr

maybe trade ollie for dontrelle – dontrelle we could try to pull an ankiel with

          2. prismo

so far good ollie (through 4 innings – 2 hits, 1 walk, 6 Ks)

          3. rustyjr

never thought i’d be yearning to have ollie back lol – hell at this point i want zambrano and charlie puleo back lol

  6. rustyjr

if those are daniel murphy’s hands we are in trouble – j/k

  7. GravediggerHebner

Through metsminorleagueblog.com I found a link to this very interesting article on TV camera angles:

      repost heb

      1. gategem

lol I thought it was a link to ZZ Top.

        1. GravediggerHebner

I deleted those “zzz”s, I guess that is Slate’s way of preventing people from linking to them or something?

          1. rustyjr

good post – i guess that is an optical illusion btw – joined ballhype and I voted
