Things have been busy lately but I wanted to let you guys in on a few things that have been added and remind you of some other features.
First of all don’t forget the Follow TRDMB link in the menu bar. This has a link to our own widget that you can put on any site including your Facebook site. It also includes links to our Twitter and Facebook pages.
Next, you may have noticed a few new things at the end of each post. We are now aligned with Ballhype. Please click on the “Hype it up” if you like one of our stories as it will bring more attention to the blog. Ballhype is also a great source for other sports blogs.
There is also a similar link you can click on for Digg.com. Again, if you like a story, click on the “Digg This Story” link. Digg.com has 1,000′s of blogs from entertainment, news, sports…..
Above that there is now a new “Share/Save” link. This allows you to share and save any story to many different sites including facebook and delicious.
Lastly, there is a “Sphere: Related Content”. Check this one out, when you click it, it will pull up similar stories from other blogs. It has a bug for IE users but I am working on it.
Also, as I will occasionally do, I am going to leave the comment section open on this post for feedback on the site. Please comment on things you like, don’t like, want to see less of, more of, just good ole constructive criticisim. Remember this blog’s motto is ‘By the Fans for the Fans”. This site is as much yours as it is any of the authors. The only way it becomes a success is by your continued support. Please help us get the word out on what I think is becoming one of the best Mets sites on the net.
Thanks,
Eric King

I would like it if the team you (we) wrote about won more games.
To paraphrase Steve McCroskey from “Airplane:” I picked the wrong year to start writing about the Mets.
As far as “about the blog” I think you (we) are doing a fine job and I can’t think of anything that I would want to be different except perhaps my compensation.
Thank you for having me.

Hey, thanks for the update on what’s new here, and what some of those links can do for you. I’ve been clicking them to see what they are, but wasn’t quite sure….
I’ve always love SprtSpyder, the link to MLBTR and the MLB Scoreboard. This site is just awesome. One stop shopping for all things Mets and baseball.

Thanks, I have tried to include everything I would look for if I had a grand central station. This is a lot of fun. I love the sportsypder myself as well as the MLBtraderumors widgets. It almost makes the ole site not that important anymore. Usually someone on Sportspyder gets the story even before they do. Now if I could only get a widget for Mlbcontracts.com and Baseballreference.com.

In lieu of widgets they could be links? Perhaps a list of “necessary sites” like those you mentioned, and others as they come to mind, similar to the blog roll?

Yankees Acquire Eric Hinske
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [June 30, 2009 at 10:38am CST]
Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Yankees acquired Eric Hinske from the Pirates for two minor leaguers, Eric Freyer and Casey Erickson. ESPN.com’s Amy Nelson says the Yankees are also sending the Pirates cash.
Crap. You guys know I wanted Hinske. Yankee’s toying with us.

Unless there’s a Teixeira injury we don’t know about, he’s not going to play 1st. So they are tired of Swisher’s OBP and HR? Damon’s HR? I can’t picture Hinske, Damon or Swisher in CF (although the White Sox did the latter last year).

Can play 3B and shift Aroid to DH? Just a good insurance policy on so many positions. Damn Yankee’s.

Agreed! This is
my point about
Omar not adding REAL depth b/f the
season! Hinskes,Millars,Wiggingtons and Vizquels!
NOT the Sullivans,Mackowiacks and Ramon Martinez’
of the baseball world!

Agreed, I mentioned yesterday, why not go out and get Teahen AND Wiggy? How does that keep you from getting a big name later?

This on A. Rubin’s blog:
Carlos Beltran’s trip to Vail, Colo., provided a reassuring diagnosis, a source familiar with the examination told the Daily News.
Dr. Richard Steadman, who examined Beltran on Monday, agreed with the team medical staff’s assessment that the center fielder is suffering from a bone bruise. Steadman is expected to recommend Beltran remain inactive slightly longer than Mets doctor David Altchek initially suggested — until after the All-Star break. The doctors had yet to speak as of Tuesday morning, according to a source.
**********************************
I never expected him back until after the ASB so this is good news – at least for me.

Agreed, but we need another hitter.
And Church needs to be the CF with Evans and Sheff for now. Bad OF but at least we don’t see Tatis or Fmart.

Back on topic track thread sponsored by Matt Cerrone.
The only thing that I would suggest is lesson the amount of posts first thing in the morning. I’ll log in at 7:30am and there are already 3 stories. Or I may comment on the morning thread and when I’m done the Rusty and Farm System threads drop so the morning thread goes into oblivion. Maybe stick the “morning thread” at the top so people have a specific place to comment for a while while the other items like Rusty start right below it?
You guys are really enthusiastic about this when Im sure it’s hard to stay motivated right now. Great job all around.
