Appalachian League

The Kingsport Mets beat the Burlington Royals, who are managed by former major league infielder Nelson Liriano, 10-3 Thursday night and now have a record of 3-7.  7 members of the class of 2009 participated and 3 of them contributed to a night of thievery.  CF Darrell Ceciliani batted 2nd and finished 1 for 5 with an RBI and a stolen base, his 1st.   LF Ronald Harris went 1 for 2 with 3 walks, 3 runs scored, an RBI and 2 stolen bases to give him 4 on the season.  Ryan Mollica played 3B tonight, and finished 1 for 4 with a walk and his 1st stolen base.  C John Freeman was 1 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.  Every pitcher for the K-Mets Thursday night was a 2009 draftee.  Zachary Von Tersch made his 2nd start and threw 4 shutout innings, allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 5.  Brian Needham followed Von Tersch with 4 innings of his own.  He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, including a home run, and had 1 strikeout.  Needham (1-0) got the win.  Pitching the final inning was Thomas Chism who allowed only 1 hit and recorded a strikeout.  For more info see the box score and recap.

New York-Penn League

The Brooklyn Cyclones are now 11-2, having won 5 in a row after shutting out the Tri-City Valley Cats 5-0 Thursday night.  3 hitters and 1 pitcher from the 2009 draft class saw action.  1B Sam Honeck batted in his customary 3rd spot in the order and finished 1 for 4.  LF Alex Gregory went 0 for 4.  2B James Ewing batted 9th and finished 1 for 3.  Pitcher Brandon Sage got into his 2nd game, his 1st since 6/24, and pitched a scoreless 9th inning, recording 1 strikeout.  Check out the game story, box score and recap.
