Big series. TIme to pound some Philly butt.

I still don’t understand how things worked out so that 2 of 3 means they are tied with the PHils. But, who am I to complain?

And does this sound familiar (said by Charlie, AKA the “other” Manuel): We’re all screwed up. When we pitch, we don’t hit. When we hit we don’t pitch”

COmbine that with daily BP meltdowns, and I swear I have seen this show before!

They even have the SP that loses focus and mentally meltsdown in the 5th inning now (Hole Camels).

And for th emext 3 days, time to be a Buccos fan again.

gotta admit it is an exciting race now (in the retro 1973 division). 4 teams within 2 games of 1st? Any one of them can be at least tied at the end of the weekend (all 4 could be actually).

Just don’t look at the WC coming out of this division unless a couple get hot soon.

So on one blog you talk about blowing them, now on this blog you talk about pounding their butts. Are you trying to tell us something?

Atlanta is a team to look out for right now. If their pitching can stay healthy, they will be very tough. Jurrjens is turning into a very solid starter. Possibly an ace in a year or two. Lowe has come back down to earth, but Kawakami gives them quality starts. Hansen has been great.

And people said I was crazy in the offseason when I said I was worried about Atlanta…

Slow morning in TRDMBville. Quick someone whip up something with “trade” or “breaking news” in the header…

I’m feeling good about our chances this weekend. The Mets have been dealing with adversity this season a lot longer than the Phils have. We should have this down to a science now – how to win with what’s left standing…

    1. darknova306

True. On the other hand, they also have handing games away down to a science.

      1. There's Always '09

we have certainly handed our fair share of games away. what has transpired this week should only reinforce my belief that omar should go to war with what we’ve got. no sense making a trade to further deplete the farm system to replace guys we expect back at some point this season. only guy worth trading for is dunn.

        1. darknova306

Agreed. I’m not gonna jump on the ‘we have a chance this year’ wagon right now, but I will say that the way we won yesterday was very encouraging. Anytime you can overcome a Tim Redding start is a good day.

I keep waiting for Philly to turn it around and start running away with the division, but as time goes on I’m thinking more and more that might not happen.

I’m worried this weekend. Rollins has declared, “I’m back.”

    1. darknova306

      I didn’t know a “robust” .210 average counted as being back. :p

      1. There's Always '09

yea, but there was one game he went 4 for 5 last week and he declared, “I’m back.”

that’s like luis castillo hitting a home run today and claiming, “i’m a power hitter”.

        1. GravediggerHebner

Well, you almost made it to noon before going out of your way to denigrate Luis Castillo. Tomorrow we shoot for 1:00pm.

          1. There's Always '09

haha…done on purpose to start some chatter lol. looks like it worked.

as much as i denigrate castillo, he is a zillion times better than he was last year. he obviously worked to get back to this point which is certainly commendable. that being said, every time he bats i pray that he proves me wrong.

i’ve said it before. one common goal on this blog. how we get there is a free for all though. :-)

          2. GravediggerHebner

I truly appreciate the attempt to start some chatter.

We definitely “do most of our business” during business hours, I am making a guess that it’s just going to be slow today due to being the Friday of July 4th weekend, and that it will get even slower as those people that even did go to work leave early and start traveling to and/or planning outdoor activities.

By the way, did you know that Luis Castillo doesn’t celebrate July 4th? (I just made that up, he probably likes fireworks as much as the next guy).

          3. There's Always '09

Here come the villagers with the torches and pitchforks!

        2. darknova306

Understood. I must have missed that quote from him. Rollins is a moron.

    2. metsfan4decades

Well, based on Rollins criteria that ‘he’s back’, can we declare then that Tatis is back?

      1. There's Always '09

Major difference. Tatis was never “here”. LOL.

But when you dive deeper into the stats, it’s debatable whether Rollins was every here also. When he says, “I’m back”, he may be just referring to his .260 career average and not the big 2007 season that made people automatically refer to him as a superstar.

He is basically the baseball playing version of Jeremy Shockey. No different other than his build and his race. He runs his mouth, but in the end, he has really only had one great season. In Shockey’s case it was his rookie year. In Rollins’ case, it was 2007.

        1. GravediggerHebner

That is an excellent cross-sport analogy. Rollins really is a “one-season” wonder offensively. I do give him “mad props” (or whatever you kids say today) with the glove.

    Happy 32nd B-Day to me!

    Let’s Go Mets!

    1. There's Always '09

      Nice! LGM!!!

Case has arrived. According to Jimmy Rollins, “Case is back!”

    2. GravediggerHebner

16 candles times two. Are two guys named Jake picking you up later in two Porsches?

      1. CaseStreet

Not unless they play for the Cyclones tonight.

    3. darknova306

Happy birthday! Let’s hope they give you a win and we get to see a 3-way tie for 1st. :)
