Perez To Start Wednesday, Redding To Bullpen

Wild Thing I think I need you Wednesday

Wild Thing I think I need you Wednesday

According to Brian Costa of The Star-Ledger, Oliver Perez will be the starting pitcher for the Mets Wednesday 7/8 versus the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Tim Redding will be moved to the bullpen, and an as yet undetermined roster move will be made prior to Wednesday’s game to make room for Perez on the active roster.

This team is unbelievable. I do not recall a team that made this many horrible mistakes. We’ve seen a lot of bad baseball from our team over the years, but day after day this team continues to demonstrate that it can play the worst. The reason we’re fluttering around .500 is because of the talent the guys have, the reason we’re not better goes beyond injuries, it lies in the fact that this team isn’t committed to playing baseball at its highest level.

Now we get Ollie, exhibit 2. (But I remain hopeful).

I wonder what they do if he stinks it up again. His last rehab outing wasnt that great, 5 innings and 3 runs IIRC.

Seems like the pitching needs to throw a shuout every game, so our offense (if thats what you want to call it) can score their measly run or two. If Santana does not have his A game, we get swept, and I doubt we do well against the dodgers.

But hey, we have ollie back………..

The problem is the pathetically shoddy defensive play is giving up runs the offense is incapable of getting back. If it was just a matter of the lack of offense I could deal with it but the shoddy play is beyond pathetic. I realize that the staggering number of injuries takes its toll on both the offense and the defense but this play would be unacceptable in the Sally League. At least the Mets will find themselves on many highlight reels. There will be derisive laughter in the sports world tonight. Can you imagine how the Steinbrenners would react if the Yankees were playing this way? Not a word from Fred or Jeff Wilpon. The Mets are playing like a “rookie league” team. I’ve seen 4H teams look better on defense. Well at least they’re playing close to their 1962 roots.

no question about it. I guess the FO has decided to throw in the towel for the season and blame it on injuries, I can understand it, no team can survive injuries from 3 tremendously productive players for a long stretch, but this teams lacks the fundamentals and that cant be blamed on injuries.

          Exactly,
I’m not convinced this team was going to do anything even with the three injured stars. Too many mental mistakes. I gave Omar Minaya a pretty long leash. I believed for so long that he was the man that could bring the Mets a championship. I definitely don’t feel like that anymore, and that was creeping in even before all the injuries hit.

This team is brutal to watch right now. And Omar’s an idiot if he claims “hey, getting Reyes, Beltran and Delgado back is like making a trade.” For one, that’s assuming they all come back completely healthy (which there is no reason to believe they all will). Two, the team will likely be so far back in the standings that it won’t matter by then. The fans deserve better. They don’t deserve to see this pathetic display of baseball we’ve been seeing over the past month. These guys can’t even catch a popup. I’m so frustrated right now.
