This is my favorite picture of Francoeur right now. I wonder if he can top it while on the Mets.

I believe Francoeur will top that look of frustration and confusion. But here’s to hoping that the up-side trade works out.
Next year:
Reyes
Castillo
Beltran
Wright
LH 1B? (LaRoche?, Delgado again?)
LF?
Francoeur
C?
Francoeur could be an asset in the 7 hole. Here’s to hoping we can find a decent LF, C, and 1B this offseason.

Delgado won’t be back next year. I think it’s important that the Mets fill all of those holes with solid hitters though – hitters with a least a little pop.

If Delgado returns in August and has a decent September would a 1 year 5 mil plus incentives be worth it. I mean Evans and Murphy can’t get the job done and the other options are pretty bad.
granted Delgado will probably never be the same but .260 20-25 HR isnt out of the question. not too mention Delgado is much better defensively than either Evans or Murphy…
he is the only one who can a hit more than 20 HR in this place anyway…

I don’t want to see him back, but I wouldnt put it past Omar to do it. And we, of course, live to regret it.
But, if he was really that cheap, and they finally get a solid RH OF/1B bat to back him up, then it is fairly low risk
What Ike Davis does might help determine Delgados future. If Ike mashes the rest of the year, they may want a 1 year stop gap like Delgado to keep the position warm.

At this point there is too much risk to bringing Delgado back. I just don’t think he can pull off a full season again.

Guys look at it this way we are currently 40-45 and there are 77 games remaining.
For us to win 90 games it would require us going 50-22 the rest of the way. We have to win every series the rest of the way to accomplish this basically.
Sounds like a lot? Yes but it’s not that far fetched that we can do it.
If we are going to make a run it will be one that will go down in Mets history. Think like this after all the heartache we have gone through the last 3 years wouldn’t it be sweet to make up for it by having a run similar to the run in “69″ or “73″? To come from behind to take it all in epic fashion?
Am I grasping at straws? Maybe but so was Mets in 1969 and Mets in 1973 and the Red Sox in 2004.
Come on guys how bout it? LETS GO METS!!!

There’s no way we can win 90. The only hope is for the rest of the division to struggle a bit and we make a huge run in August and September. September alone will probably be too late. I’d like to see a couple more under the radar moves, and perhaps one larger one if we are to keep up hope this season.

The ’69 team had Seaver, Koosman, Gentry and Cardwell with Ryan in the bullpen and as a spot starter. The ’73 team had Seaver, Koosman, Matlack and Stone.

And yet it was not till the You Gotta Believe speech that they made their run.
Look all I am saying is that we have talent in our pitching rotation
Santana
Pelfrey
Perez
Maine
Hernandez
KRod
Feliciano
Parnell
Putz
Wagner
These guys have talent and have the ability to provide us with an epic run but ability is not enough the big question is can they?
History can say the 2009 Mets were one of the great Pitching Staffs to record the greatest 2nd half in team history.

To celebrate the opening of our new stadium in typical
Met fashion!
Thanks Omar!

to Football a little
earlier this year.
Aint it grand being
a Mets fan?!

Well, Cueto I think started the game in which the Phillies scored 22 runs, so tonight what do we think, no hitter?

good chance,
Hey, Sanchez threw one for SF. A total stiff (my son said it was his frist start after bein gin the pen. That true?). And yet, the Mets still have none.

I know he has been in and out of the pen this season, that’s what the MLB Network guys were saying last night.
They were also saying that what at least contributed to it is that his throwing motion is such that, like Sid Fernandez (their comparison) he throws “out of his uniform” thus the hitters can’t pick up the ball quickly. How that relates to his previously below average performance I cannot say.

Would’ve been a perfect game if not for Juan Uribe’s error, so maybe there is some solace in that?

Yes, my tiny desktop weather map seems to show a giant storm that extends from Mississippi to Maine. Should I start on the Ark?
