Injury News: Nieve leaves with leg injury

Fernando Nieve has left Sunday’s game against the Braves with what appears to be a serious right leg injury.  Attempting to beat out an infield hit in the top of the second inning, Nieve collapsed to the ground in pain and was taken off the field on a cart.  Tim Redding has come on in relief to replace him.

I suppose Jon Niese joins the team tomorrow.

    he better be up tomorrow

Niese likely will not be up tomorrow. He just pitched Saturday, so I say they’ll bring up an extra bullpen arm until Nieve’s spot comes up again. Niese has been pitching lights out over the last month-plus, so I’m excited to see what the kid can do if they give an extended look.

    ugh

Hope he is ok. But this is getting ridiculous.

That looked BAD. I would have to say he’s out for the count.

    I cannot believe this.

Well if anything, we may have just seen the last of Tim Redding. This team is terrible right now.

Spot on! What else is there
to say? This team really is
      unwatchable!

You watch on the days Johan pitches, hoping the team can muster up three runs. At least football starts soon (although I’m a baseball guy first, the Giants will at least be competitive)

This is like watching the 1967-68 Mets where you only tune in or go to Shea when Seaver was pitching. Now it’s Johan.

Well Fong, as old veterans, I think at this point, until we have at least 5 or 6 wins in a row under our belt, we watch for the same reason we watched in the late 1970s—for love of the game and the team, to hopefully see individual players do great things, and to see young players develop.

Of course, almost everyone really good is out, as is our top prospect, so we do have a pretty tough road ahead of us.

Still, I am enjoying Johan and KRod, and am looking forward to Sept 1st, when we will see a lot of kids…..and I am looking forward to the Dolphins….

      Amen

    welcome Neise is right.

Too badthough, since I really wanted to see how neive would do with some more starts to settle in. Oh well.

I wish Murph could get the bat going a little bit, he’s looking pretty good at first. Just made another really nice play to save two more runs (not that it really matters but a nice effort nonetheless)

Injuries, injuries, injuries.Yeah! We know! BUT this is a God awful team!
With a God awful Manager and Coaching
staff! Not to mention,an awful Training Staff and mediocre minor
league system. We’re FIVE years into
the Omar regime! ENOUGH! NO MORE!
Please, for the Love of God Mr.Wilpon
do not allow this nit wit make any
more moves. Before he does something to
set us back another year or two!
He simply can’t be trusted! You have
spent almost half a billion dollars
on payroll since since Bel-Tron was
caught looking to end the ’06 season
and what has Omar given you? A gutless
(and now injured) group of players,
some of who are still under contract
for years to come AND who aren’t going
to get any better. Some of who have
    dragged down others with them(see:
    Slappy’s effect on Reyes).Omar has
also given you two Mgrs and a bunch
of Coaches who seem lost at times
    in their positions.Lastly,Omar has
given you a Training staff which
seems like they can’t tell the difference between a slightly pulled
and a severly torn muscle SO HOW
    can they properly provide treatments?
Please,DO NOT let this two-bit phoney
    and illiterate knucklehead make ANY
more decisions here. We know that
you are a loyal man Mr.Wilpon, see:
    Bernie Madoff BUT PLEASE…NO MORE
    with this guy.

LOL. Tell us how you really feel, Fongy….

I have to agree on one thing. This team is hard to watch right now. I’m watching and will continue watching but man, the pain…..

      1. fongy2

        I’m trying to but it
        ain’t easy.Long day
        ending a long week
        and I’ve got my Mets
        on at a perfect time
        6p Sunday Night against
        the Bravos & as they’re
giving the lineup I start to wonder”should
        I waste the next 3hrs
        on this?” BUT they
        atleast make it easy,
        once down even a run,
        ya think its over.
        Look,I WAS an Omar fan
        when he was brought in.
He was one of our guys
and I gave him the benefit of the doubt
        early. BUT c’mon now!
        This is absurd! WE ALL
knew the team’s weaknesses the last two
        seasons BUT Omar chose
        ONLY to address the
        Pen.Then try and sell
        this group as something
        it wasn’t,a better team
        than the last two!
Lost chances! You should know after four
        decades,you don’t get
        them back! The Braves
        are no longer the
beast of the NL and the yankees are no long
er the beasts of baseball. The Cards,The
Rockies and The Phillies are the last
        three reps of the NL
        in the series.A little
        tinker here or there
        and that could easily
        have been us.Instead
we will forever be know as one of the
        All Time great choke
teams in baseball history. That is our
        gift from Omar!
        But hey,the Wilpons
        got their shiney new
        stadium,an Ode to Freddy,s beloved
        Dodgers out of it.
        So,not a total loss!

        1. metsfan4decades

Hard to argue with most of your logic.
Thing is though, I don’t care what different moves Omar might have made over the off season. With these many injuries to these many regulars for weeks/months (not 15 day DL type), this season was doomed. There was no way, no matter what was done differently, we could have compensated for that.

          Sigh…

Life goes on and so will the mets it aint our year an I think it never was.At this point I would call up all the farm hands and try um out why wait till sept ,release redding and tatis. Trade sheffield if he’s back as well as schnieder and livan.
