Repeating myself from the last thread as it fits more appropriately here:

I’m not at all surprised. Omar’s contract extension kicks in next year. He’s pretty unlikely to be fired with 3 years left on his contract.

Jerry, I thought might get fired after I read an article earlier this year that demonstrated the majority of managers who are hired mid-season are themselves replaced within a year and a half. But given the injuries, I can see how they wouldn’t fire him. He didn’t hurt the players.

I agree with u about minaya grave – Jerry I still predict will resign before or right after the season ends
btw Ed Glynn says hi and would you like a hot dog peanuts or crackerjacks ??

I remember watching him pitch (I don’t recall seeing him vend) and that’s why I can’t get too worked up about this current team’s situation. When Ed Glynn was pitching they weren’t even “contenders through September,” they just stunk year after year after year.

I can handle 1 year without realistic post season contention. And if I felt there were a concrete rebuilding plan in place I could handle many more than one. (Not that I think this team needs to rebuild, I’m just sayin’)

To answer your question, I’ll go with crackerjacks. Maybe I’ll get a tattoo inside!

its been what 4 years that we have always felt we had a contending chance for the post season…just feels weird to not feel that anymore..strange yet familiar feeling

I HEAR YA – i support omar even though i prefer whitey herzog as our gm
btw u going to the aug 22 1969 world series reunion at citi ? ill be there

If Whitey would come out of retirement, I would love him as Omar’s boss–how about that? He is 77, and maybe he would take an office job overseeing everything, and Omar could kind of be slightly demoted in the hierarchy while staying as GM with Whitey overseeing things?

And I might be at that 69 reunion game Rusty—if not, I WILL be there one of the Saturdays in Aug/Sept, and/or very likely Sat Oct 3—whether it is a meaningful October game, well, that remains to be seen….

In their defense, did anyone really think we would be a contending team missing all those bodies?

    1. Kingman 26

No sir, but I did not think I would watch the worst and sloppiest fundamental play by a Met team since before Bobby V was manager….

Will I close the door? Will I close the door? That’s my wife, you a**hole!!

            ; )

And the fans are reassured that we will continue to see shoddy fundamental play, and sacrifice bunts in the top of the first inning, when ALL evidence at all levels shows that these bunts DECREASE the chances of scoring.

I can live with Omar, but if this season ends with us under .500 and Jerry comes back next spring, I hope Wright leads a revolt for a new manager. At least HE has the balls to publicly oppose Jerry’s sloppiness and old/no school idiocy.

    1. QnsNative718

You know what, I gotta agree w. that. I remember being on the Fire Jerry Bandwagon for allowing consistant lackadasical play from the defense. (Not using two hands). Though, Jerry could not do anything about missing most of the “core” and thr lack of offensive production, he couldve focused on other aspects of the game, like the FUNDAMENTALS! If it was up to me, Id let Omar stay, and tell Jerry to get on the bus.

        Agreed 100%, my wise friend….

Well, I sure am not even close to being tired of it!
