Good morning all you Mets fans ( hey i’ll take a win over the Nationals any day of the week). It is time for eveyones favorite almanac of asinine New York Mets moves – Thats right it’s time for “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty”.
First off birthday wishes go out to former utility infielder, coach and interim manager Mike “The Curse Of” Cubbage (1950)
also celebrating a birthday is light hitting shortstop Mike “Ick” Bordick (1965) – he hit a homer in his first at bat for us in 2000 and wasnt able to hit or field after that.
also first baseman who played all of 2 games for us in ’02 -Brian Buchanan (1973)
and career minor leauge pitcher Brett Hinchliffe (1974)
New York Mets traded catcher Jesse ” He’s a ” Gonder to the Milwaukee Braves for utility player Gary Kolb on July 21, 1965.
New York Mets traded third baseman Wayne Garrett and outfielder Del ” Shannon” Unser to the Montreal Expos for outfielders Pepe ” LE PEEEW ” Mangual and Jim Dwyer on July 21, 1976.
And the Mo Vaughn tidbit of the day – In his spare time he’s the Teddy Roosevelt in the Running of the Presidents at Washington Nationals games. Kinda explains why poor Teddy always loses.
