per Adam Rubin, “Mets reiterate they’ll investigate Bernazard’s behavior”

Omar Minaya reiterated a team statement earlier in the afternoon, that the Mets will investigate today’s Daily News report of Tony Bernazard’s alleged conduct. Minaya would not say if the organization verifying the report would result in Bernazard’s firing. He said Bernazard is at home in New Jersey. Minaya also would not indicate when he first learned about the alleged incident in Binghamton.

this is like watching Philadelphia politics. Or a sausage packing plant, pretty much the same thing.

Saw the media meeting on Daily News Live. Interesting..
They must have asked him a dozen questions and other than Bernazard was home, the only other statement he would make is the one they earlier released: ‘We’re investigating as we take all these reports very seriously’.

It’s very clear though the Mets knew about this as soon as it happened. He would not confirm when the investigation started. If it didn’t start as soon as they heard about it, then how is that ‘we take it seriously’?

Ed Coleman on pre game show says he has a temper, it got the better of him and he believes this is going to be a big problem for him. He wouldn’t come out and say lose his job, but it was clear to me he wanted to…..

Only other thing Omar did say, when asked since given the standings, are the Mets now sellars…..was there is still the WC (even though Omar didn’t know how far out we were in the WC) and there are still some days left before we’ll make the decision. Said, at this time, they have no plans to be sellars…

I bet if this report hadnt come out in the papers, they would have done nothing about it. The hell with 2009 season, at least dont hire barbarians who belong on capital one commercials in positions of power.
