Game Time: 8:05 pm

The Don's Record: 11-7 Era: 2.92 K: 117 BB: 39 WHIP: 1.19
Mets Notes:
- Santana extended his streak of scoreless innings to 15 Saturday afternoon when he beat the Braves. He allowed only five hits and two walks in his seven innings and then sweated out a Braves rally in their eighth. The victory was his 59th in 76 career decisions after the All-Star break. His career .776 winning percentage after the break is the highest in big league history among pitchers with at least 75 starts after the break. Now he faces the Astros, a team he has dominated — 0.98 ERA — in three career appearances, two last season after the break. He won once and wasn’t involved in the decision in the other start, allowing one run in 13 1/3 innings. Carlos Lee has a .313 average, eight strikeouts and three home runs in 32 career at-bats against Santana.

Houston Astros:
- Hampton began the second half of the season by losing to the Dodgers on Saturday night in a strange game. He gave up seven hits and five runs (four earned) in 5 2/3 innings en route to losing his second consecutive start, but he retired 12 in a row from the second until the sixth inning and the was the victim of poor defense. He’s 10-10 in his career against the Mets, his former team, with a 3.10 ERA in 30 games (28 starts). Hampton has only one win this year against teams other than the Pirates, against whom he’s 4-0.

Obviously that comment was meant as ‘HR to the opposing pitcher’.
Sigh….

I know. That stung. But I still have hope…
And as I write this, my man murph pokes a hit through the infield only to have razor shines kill another potential rally… That dude needs Ridalin or something. Stop Sending Them Every Time!

Well, with our horrid offense, I really didn’t have a problem with him taking a chance with sending him there. Make them get a good throw in. Which, of course, they did.
Sigh….

4 friggin posts!!
I see you guys have quit too!
Is it too soon to expect Freddy Wilpon
to hold a press conference and tell
us that after long discussions with
his son they believe that, what has
gone here both on and off the field
lately is unacceptable! AND as a result, they have decided to dismiss
both Jerry and his staff as well as
Omar and his staff. The team, whats left
of it,has quit…Time to move onto the
next phase!
