The Casey quote of the day is priceless.

Congrats to Mark Buehrle and his perfect game.

Are the NY Mets the oldest team with no no hitter (never mind a perfect game) in it’s history?
Last couple of years I find myself kind of obsessed with seeing a Met pitcher finally get the no hitter. Thought Maine almost had it his last gameof ’07….

        lolll

what hurt was ramon castro was calling the game..what is it with ex-met players and this feat that they can never accomplish on the mets. Buehrle said eh never shook of castro once…meaning that Ramon called the whole game(im sure with some help from the dugout). Congrats to buehrle..thats a real one too cause the rays are tops in the league for runs scored in the AL.

Newsday is reporting that Maine is going to see Dr. Andrews and is probably out for the season.

That’s the best news John Maine has gotten all season. At least he doesn’t have to participate in this rubbish.

        Sure! Why Not?!

Wonder if Omar can pull of a trade with this DL team that we’ve been hearing so much about. They have Jose Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Maine, FMart, etc. We know the Mets need to get younger. Maybe we can send Sheff, Redding, Livan, and Murphy to the DL in exchange for Maine, Delgado, Beltran, and Reyes? The DL would be benefitting because they get veterans that can help them win now and tend to stick around a little longer.

Just a thought. What place is the DL in anyway? Do they have merchandise on shop.mlb.com?

every day just seems better than the last with the Mets!

the “other” guy on his blog posted a link to an article (maybe in the times?) calling out Jeffy for going into the witness protection program instead of coming out to defend or explian what is going on with the organization. He certainly does seem content to let Omar take all the slings and arrows for everyone.

I think they should have a Tony B. presser. See how that turns out?

Oh, and Matt even made a good zinger in his comments: ” though it is a business, and i’m sure their back accounts can prove it, from a perception point of view, it’s less GE and Exxon-Mobil and more Jon and Kate Plus Eight”

there must be some biblical parallel for this (not that I would know!), but I actually think 2010 is going to be a great year. Maybe just Karma, or the law of averages, but for some reason I do feel that things are going to work out much better.

Plus, they are probably going to be sritten off and/or ignored by the fans and media, so they can just fly under the radar (and of course have no pressure from expectations).

Maybe I am nuts, and of course it will take some intelligent moves by the GM (although maybe by then we will have an intellligent GM?), but I am predicitng a deep run in the 2010 playoffs right now.

this year? Lucky to get back over .500.

      Oh yeah, another random thought.

teams, even not great teams, can get hot unexpectadly. The 2007 Rockies are a great example (even more so thatn the Phils).

They were a middling (probably sub-.500) team until September, then went on a miraculous winning streak, and rode it all the way to the WS>

Then proceded to win ~78 games in 2008.

Now, they are seriously in the WC hunt.

Proving what? It ain’t over til it’s over, a couple of players can make a big difference, and you rarely know what you are going to get from a team season to season (and the prio season can’t be used to predict the current season with any great accuracy).
