Post Game: Like Butta!

"Talk amongst yourselves"

"Talk amongst yourselves"

I am verklempt.  OK actually I’m taking advantage of the lack of rain to do yardwork so I haven’t been watching the game.  I have been listening and the parts that I could hear were quite impressive.  I don’t have much to add, so I want you to talk amongst yourselves.  I’ll give you a few topics:

  • The Mets won a series
  • The Mets won a rubber game
  • The Mets hit 3 triples
  • The Mets starting pitcher recovered from a rough start
  • The Mets scored ‘add-on’ runs
  • Luis Castillo is on fire
  • Jeff Francoeur has 14 RBI in 12 games as a Met
  • The Mets have not made an error since Friday

Lucky you, grave. Had two nasty downpours during the game here…

If anyone would have told me last week we would win 2 of 3 in this series and lose the one Johan game, I would have laughed right out loud.
There is no predicting this season at all. You just have to watch and roll with the punches, of which there have been many.

Have to give Livan credit. Horrible 1st, which could have been worse than 3 runs, then goes 7 innings.

Still a little early too tell, but how good has this Francouer for Church trade been looking so far?

I still don’t buy this version of Francoeur. He’s on a nice hot streak, but once he remembers who he really is he’ll go back to being one of the worst everyday players in the game.

I’m not so sure about that. he is young enough, and has talent, to think that it is possible he could finally put it together. Expecially since the prevailing opinion is that he has the goods, his problem is mental.

Besides, many ball palyers are streaky (just look at our own Mr. Wright). SO if this is just a hot streak, enjoy it. And work like hell to get him to accept a more patient approach for next year.

That description fits both him and tomorrow’s starter for us. Hopefully they both figure it out, but I don’t hold out much hope.
Either way, though, I’ll enjoy the hot streak. We need it right now.

this weekend was just a glimpse of what the year was supposed to be like.

Still annoying that they lost so many games that were winnable. They could easily be enough over .500 to still be viable in the WC race.

And I do blame Jerry for a lot of that. ANd Omar of course. Being a little more proactive about getting decent reinforcements likely would have added 3-4 wins.
