Mets Notes:

  • The old wildness returned last Tuesday for Perez, who walked six batters over six innings in a losing effort against the Nationals. Though Perez has unquestionably been more effective since returning from the disabled list earlier this month, he has issued a total of 17 free passes in his three starts — a win, a loss and a no-decision. He also suffered through similar bouts of wildness in two starts against the Rockies last season, walking 14 batters in 11 innings. Perez has not beaten the Rockies since 2005.

Rockies Notes:
  • The Rockies’ staff has been outstanding thus far in the second half, and the NL wild-card leaders need their pitching to stay strong on a critical 10-game road trip that begins Monday night with the first of four against the Mets. Colorado (54-44) had a 4.34 ERA in the season’s first half that ranked among the bottom third in the majors, but the pitching staff has picked it up after the All-Star break. The Rockies have a 3.03 ERA in 10 games since July 16, including a 2.85 ERA from their starters. Jimenez and the rest of Colorado’s staff will have their work cut out for them in the club’s first visit to Citi Field, though. The Rockies have lost six consecutive series on the road against the Mets and 18 of 20 games overall, getting outscored 110-54. Jimenez has held opponents to a .207 average over his last six starts, but he’s just 1-3 with a 4.12 ERA. He didn’t factor in the decision Wednesday against Arizona, allowing three runs and five hits over six innings in a 4-3 win.

Did anyone just listen to the Wilpon/Omar press conference? Omar’s DONE FOR. I hope. :)

    1. trs86

What Wilpon conference? I only got the Omar part.

      1. trs86

Ok, nevermind. I have no idea what will happen now.
        Hmmmm…..
You are right this could be the final blow for both Omar and the regime.
Eventually the Wilpons will have to get tired of being embarrassed. Why does everything have to have drama?

        1. fongy2

          Because the
          Wilpons dont know what the
          hell theyre doing!
          See:Bernie Madoff AND
          Ebbetts errr
          CitiField.

Wow, so after watching the press conference and Rubin’s interview it is clear that things are unclear. LOL. I don’t know what to think.
I don’t think Omar was saying that Rubin was trying to get Tony fired. I think he was implying that he had to take the story with a grain of salt because of his motive. Now, as to where there was a motive or not? Who the hell knows. Most likely Omar is angry that Rubin forced his hand?

    1. fongy2

      Even if you’re right…
      Omar admitted problems
      with Tony PRIOR to the
      Adam Rubin stories.
      AND SAID…Tony wasn’t a
      very friendly guy…
      Huh?!

    2. metsfan4decades

My take? Omar was well aware of Tony’s antics. He was a good friend. He had no intention of firing him before the stories came out. Then he had no choice. He was angry about that and took it out on the messenger.

No Obama when It comes to the

            I think YOU should.
