Good win…but to have any impact with this series we really need to sweep or at least win 3 of 4. Splitting does nothing but keep us at 6.5! Boo…Oh well…anyway why isnt Ollie throwing 93-94 mph?? Why have all our guys seen a decrease in velocity? Can it be this med staff? Probably not but damn cmon!! Putz was injured fine but Ollie isnt old and last year he was reaching higher velocity on his fastball. He needs all the velocity he can get because as we all know he doesnt have what you would call pin point accuracy. Maybe he can get away with leaving a 94 mph fastball down the middle but 89-90…NO CHANCE!! Yes we won and for that Im grateful but 89 down the middle is not the recipe for long term success…like the um contract he signed!

If it is across the board, maybe citi has a slower gun than shea? Or are you seeing the same ipact on road games?

Johan is down though it seems, but not quite as much. Cant remember about pelf.

      Ollie I think just stinks.

Carlos Beltran has started working out towards coming back. He’s apparently tired of the medical advice of ‘rest’. Says he might not be 100% but if he can make it back this year, he’s going to do just that.
Sounds like he’s not much buying either medical opinion of ‘rest’ or..he’s completely frustrated that ‘rest’ hasn’t improved anything, he’s going to Plan B.

this is one danger about them hanging around the fringe of the race. Guys that should give it extra time (or shut down) might push it coming back.

And I don’t entirely blame the medical staff. Players tend to want to play, not take off 3 months for a hangnail.

with beltran, he should rest. Having recent experience with a serious bone bruise, they do take a while to heal, and rest is the only real way to do it (along with PT).

If the current group can hang tough, and if even most of Reyes, Delgado, maine, sheff and Wagner are back between now and 8/15, that should be enough firepower. Maybe.

Beltran would be wonderful to have, but not at the expense of him making his leg worse, and jeapordizing 2010 too.

Love the optimism but really? Enough firepower? Cmon for what the wildcard? We need to sweep or win 3 of 4 from Colorado or a split gets us to 6.5 back again. Please dont tell me you bought the Manuel spin we will winn 25 of 30 or something ridiculous just because a few of our guys come back. Listen they are good players but we arent getting 3 Albert Pujols’s back!
