Gulf Coast League
- The GCL Marlins beat the GCL Mets 5-4 Wednesday. 4 2009 Mets draftees played. Josh Dunn played the first 7 innings at 3B, was 0 for 2 at the plate and made his 3rd error of the season in the field. Travis Ozga took over for him and also went 0 for 2 at the plate but did not make an error. LF ZeErika Hall walked in the bottom of the 5th inning, and singled in the 9th to go 1 for 4. C Nelfi Zapata singled in the 1st inning, walked in the 4th inning and in the 8th inning he singled then later scored on a balk to go 2 for 3. Zapata also committed his 3rd error of the season on a muffed catch. For more see the box score and recap.
New York-Penn League
- The Staten Island Yankees beat the Brooklyn Cyclones 4-3 Wednesday. 2 2009 draftees played. 1B Sam Honeck had a 5th inning walk in his 0 for 3 game. SS Robbie Shields hit his 2nd triple of the year leading off the 4th and scored. There was supposed to be a doubleheader between these teams Wednesday but the 2nd game was postponed due to rain. They will try a doubleheader again Thursday. For more see the box score and recap.
South Atlantic League
- The Greensboro Grasshoppers chewed up the Savannah Sand Gnats 13-2 Wednesday. 2 members of the 2009 draft class played for Savannah. P John Church threw 1 inning of relief, the 6th. He 5 runs, all earned, on 4 hits and a walk. RF Joseph August had a 3rd inning single to go 1 for 3. See the game story, box score and recap for more.

its very possible the Wilpons have quietly and privately told Omar there is no money to spend and he needs to do the best with what he’s got…
