Game Time: 7:10pm

Record: 11-8 Era: 3.12 K: 120 BB: 42 WHIP: 1.25
Mets Notes:
- In easily his worst start of the month, Santana served up five runs on a career-high 12 hits and three walks last Friday in Houston, taking his eighth loss — though only the third in which he did not submit a quality start. The Mets can only hope a reprieve will come at Citi Field, where Santana holds a 1.86 ERA this season, and where he has never failed to deliver a quality start. He will be making his first-ever start against the Rockies, one of only two teams he has never faced (the other being the Twins, his former employer for eight seasons).

- Record: 5-5 Era: 4.28 K: 70 BB: 25 WHIP: 1.45
Rockies Notes:
- Hammel gave up three runs and seven hits in six mostly solid innings of a 3-1 loss to the Giants on Friday night. It was a step forward for Hammel, who had struggled with fleeting fastball command during home games. But this start is at the Mets’ Citi Field, and Hammel is a beast on the road — 4-2, 1.93 ERA.

You know it just may be a good day when even Berroa gets a hit to keep the rally going.

no reason to think that. He has been pitching very well now for a solid 2 months.

The way this team is playing right now I strongly believe Omar needs to add a significant piece. We can use it, we can afford it, and the players have earned it.

i would think SP and LF is the biggest need, although a 1B would be nice if Murphy was sent the other way…

Red Sox rejected a trade of a straight up swap bucholtz for V-Mart…

They would have to move him to First if they want to max out his value. Lucky for the Mets that spot is open.

can he play defense? because speed and defense is how we need to build this team. I think Martinez would hit no more than 15 HR as a Met and that wont be worth trading for him…

apparently not, V-Mart has a -0.1 UZR. He’s an upgrade over Delgado @ -0.3 but not over Evans 0.2, Tatis 0.6, or Murphy 0.9

so forget him. he’s not a real upgrade

You know who is, Bengie Molina. He leads Catchers with a .996 FP, has 52 Assists and 3 Errors.

no doubt~! BUT,If
Omars still here and
we’re looking for a Catcher,no 3or4 yr
deals!!! Omar actually
got lucky last yr.
Remember 4 yrs for
Yorvit Torrealba or
his romance of Posada?
VMart is a nice player
BUT hes no better than
ordinary @ 1B AND with
his bat there,he is
Not worth either the
ransom nor the money
it would cost.

how about 2? If Thole’s the real deal he should be ready by then.
Mauer will be available after next year, too.

the Yanks and Sox will both be in desperate need of a catcher by then. We wont be able to get him…

I know, but there’s no reason the Mets shouldn’t be in the mix.

Sorry.
I agree with what you said above about the Mets being in the mix on Mauer.
I think everyone, even Omar’s biggest detractors, would admit that Omar signs big time free agents, which is exactly what Mauer will be (unless they trade him in which case – been there, done that with Minnesota).
