This Day In Mets Infamy Rusty 8-1-09

Greetings my fellow Mets fans. It’s time for the early afternoon edition of “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” – the place where you can find anything or everything thats revels in Mets related infamy.
Birthday greetings are in order for Staten Island born former Mets coach and one time manager – the late George Bambi” Bamberger (1925)
Also one year older – the man many a Mets fan blames for the crumbling of the franchise after the ’88 World Series Gregg Jefferies (1967)
and lastly spot starter and middle reliever Brian “BOBO” Bohanon (1968)
And now the truely infamous transaction that happened on this date -Mo Vaughn please start with the belly slap drum roll …… – New York Mets traded Mookie Wilson to the Toronto Blue Jays for Jeff Musselman and Mike Brady “bunch” on August 1, 1989.- That was a punch in the gut to Mets fans everywhere on that day . Yes Mookie was’nt the same Mookie we knew and loved – but he was the heart of the team
