Big Pelf Record: 8-6 Era: 4.72 K: 61 BB: 42 WHIP: 1.50

Mets Notes:

With a nastier fastball and the natural sink that led to double plays in two tight situations, Pelfrey pitched quite effectively against the Rockies in the Mets’ 4-0 victory at Citi Field Tuesday. He allowed seven hits and three walks, hit a batter and struck out five in 6 1/3 innings. The victory was his first in three starts and his fourth in 15. Now he opposes the Diamondbacks, against whom he has produced a 4.42 ERA and 0-2 record in three career starts (18 1/3 innings). Pelfrey has a 4-2 record and 3.90 ERA in 11 starts at Citi Field this season. The D-Backs roster is not particularly familiar with him (52 composite at-bats).
According to Bart Hubbach-Putz threw 20 pitches off a mound and Wags is scheduled to throw another inning in PSL on Monday.

Diamondbacks Notes:
Garland has put together six consecutive quality starts (six or more innings, three or fewer runs) and has pitched better than his numbers would indicate. When Garland has been bad, he has been really bad, which has ballooned his ERA. Four times he has allowed six or more earned runs in a start. Garland has been critical of the defense behind him in his past two starts. Last time out, he allowed six runs but only three were earned. He got a no-decision in his start before that despite allowing just three runs over seven innings.

nice to see Figueroa get called up finally.

hopefully the Ollie experiment will end shortly as we wont be able to make a run if Ollie is pitching every 5th day. SInce returning from his “injury” Ollie is 1-1 with 24 H 26 BB 24 K and a 4.67 ERA in 27 IP. Nelson Figueroa can do a much better job than that…

That is not bad for a #5 starter, not good for 3/36. Oleo, Ollie is going nowhere.

And keeping with the #5 starter theme, he has kept us in every game he has pitched in so far, no more than 4 runs in any. Just has to get his pitch count down. Again, not worth 36 but he is not hurting us more than any other #5 would.
