Billy Wagner looks like he’ll be the first to return – based on his rehab and inning of work down there. Who would have thought?

Just wanted to say, great idea on the contest on the last post. I don’t have a Facebook account, don’t really want to sign up for one. The fact that I’m going to miss all those stories makes me almost want to. Well, almost…..

LOL, I know I know. Maybe I should open up the comment section.

Well, like I said, it’s a fun idea. It’s just me – a few baseball blogs is the only internet anything I ever would consider signing up for. And even then, I only have to give my email address. It’s just a privacy thing with me. I won’t even open the door to the delivery guy when my hubby isn’t home…..LOL. I think I watch too much news…..

Question for the minor league master. Thole is viewed by many to not have the arm for 2nd base. He does not have the power for 1B. Could HE play 2nd?

do you really want to waste another year for this guy teaching him a 3rd position? BTW Murphy should have been the one we made a second basemen.

        3rd position?

Yes he can play catcher first base, and second base would be a third position. The Mets converted him into a catcher. That’s what this season is for him. It’s his first full season as a catcher.

I got the impression that he was a catcher first and then started to learn 1B.

            yup, hs catcher

Why his CS% is relatively good for a first year catcher. With his bat at catcher he is valuable. Otherwise he just becomes another guy beating up on minor league pitching. The Mets haven’t had a long term catcher since the great 31, I’d say get this guy up, we have nothing to lose, and if he hits start him next year, if not give him the entire season in AAA and sign Molina for a year.

nothing to lose? you lose out on one of his good years by bringing him up early for no reason when you can get Molina via FA.

Let Thole split 2010 in AA/AAA and get a Sept call up.

Then in 2011 we have the next #31.

He is not going to have power to be a game changer anyway. I am not concerned about arbi years but I would not call him up until September when it does not count anyway. As for next year, I am happy with Molina and Santos.
