Gulf Coast League
- The GCL Nationals beat the GCL Mets 11-5 Wednesday. 3 2009 draftees played for the GCL Mets. 1B Travis Ozga singled and scored in the 6th to go 1 for 3. RF Chase Greene doubled in the 3rd inning, and had an RBI fielder’s choice in the 6th (scoring Ozga) in his 1 for 4 game. C Camden Maron singled in the 3rd, singled and scored in the 5th and walked and scored in the 6th to go 2 for 2. For more see the box score and recap.
New York-Penn League
- The Brooklyn Cyclones beat the Batavia Muckdogs 6-4 Wednesday. 5 members of the 2009 draft class played for the Cyclones. P Darin Gorski (2-2) started and won, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings, striking out 2. Gorski also picked 2 runners off at 1st base. P Brandon Sage relieved him and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk, striking out 1, in 2 innings. SS Robbie Shields went 0 for 4. 1B Sam Honeck went 2 for 5 with his 6th double and recorded his 17th RBI of the season. LF Nick Santomauro had a single and his 1st double of the season, plus 3 walks to go 2 for 2. For more see the game story, recap and box score. There’s also a Batavia area newspaper game story, and a New York Examiner game story.
South Atlantic League
- The Savannah Sand Gnats beat the Rome Braves 4-2 Wednesday. 2009 draftee P Lance Hoge threw 2 scoreless innings and recorded his 1st hold of the season. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 1. For more see the game story, box score and recap.

The Sand Gnats beat a highly touted young pitcher in Julio Teheran.
And their own pitcher from yesterday, 19 year old Jeurys Familia, might be working his way on to teams’ radars. He’s 6’3″, can strike hitters out (94 in 118 innings) and keeps the ball in the park (only 3 homers against). Batters have hit .218 against him this year.

I love these daily minor league updates. This must take some work to compile and put together so just wanted you to know it’s appreciated. By the time these guys get to the ML, I’ll feel like I know all about them…
