Mets Notes:

Hernandez’s premature exit in last Friday’s game was no fault of his own. After allowing two runs to the D-backs over six innings, Hernandez was lifted for a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth, having thrown just 81 pitches. And so instead of sticking around long enough to try and notch his third consecutive victory, Hernandez settled for a no-decision. His next start will come against the Padres, a team he beat once in two tries last season.

Padres Notes:
Richard nearly earned a victory in his first start with the Padres on Saturday, a day after he was obtained from the White Sox as part of the package for Jake Peavy. Richard allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings and appeared to run out of gas in his last inning or so against the Brewers. All told, Richard allowed two hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Using a fastball with considerable sink, Richard got eight groundouts. The one that he allowed came in the sixth inning, a solo home run to Prince Fielder.

Yup, this has a win written all over it. Especially since Livan can’t ever get out of the 1st inning without giving up runs.

    Sigh….
