This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty 08-15-09

Good Morning my fellow Mets fans. Last night was a good game – and it’s great to see we are on a two game winning streak ( hopefully three after todays game). It is time for yet another edition of everyone’s favorite almanac of everything Mets – Yes It’s “This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty” So break out the tequila and eat the worm cuz we are gonna win the division !!! ( and yes I know denial is a river in Egypt)
Happy birthday to former outfielder of the ’67 team Tommie “Wrap” Reynolds (1941)
also another year older is Jerry Grote’s protege Robert “Duffy” Dyer (1945)
Today would have been the late Nino Espinosa’s 56th birthday. (1953) Nino was a decent starting pitcher for the Mets from ’74 – ’78 but was traded by M. Donald Grant ( who as legend goes couldn’t tell the difference from talent and a hooker with a Adam’s apple) and was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for the malcontent outfielder – and Gravedigger’s favorite Met – Richie Hebner. Nino ended up getting a world series ring with the Phils in ’81
And lastly warmest birthday wishes go out to out $ 36 million dollar pitcher ( with a two cent brain) Oliver ” Mr. Hyde” Perez (1981) – remember we gotta be nice to him because his psyche is fragile !!

New York Mets traded Shawn ” Testy” Estes to the Cincinnati Reds for Raul Gonzalez, Pedro Feliciano, Brady Clark and Elvin Andujar on August 15, 2002.Obviously we scored on this deal because we got Pedro “CHICO AND THE MAN” Feliciano for a pitcher who never lived up to his potential ( see Steve Phillips could make a good trade every now and then !!)

New York Mets released infield/ outfield reserve Eli Marrero on August 15, 2006.
And lastly guys Mo Vaughn was spotted proposing to Sherri Sheppard of : The View” ( somehow I cant imagine a matress stong enough to handle that action)
By the way i’ll be at todays game in section 436 row 2 if you are there come around and say “hi”

sorry that the comments were off guys
i just got back from todays game and all I can say is when David got beaned the first thing that came to mind was Piazza/ Clemmens- 2000
also yes the mets have added more historical pictures at citi but in obscure places such as on top of the elevator towers and at the sides of the tiers where you can barely see it – typical Mets I guess on the bright side is we almost came back

I’m glad I was able to facilitate a WS ring for Nino!
