Those that were signed before yesterday can be found on the rosters of either the GCL Mets, the Kingsport Mets, the Brooklyn Cyclones or the Savannah Sand Gnats.

Links that were initially found around draft day in June to information about many but not all of these players can be accessed at Picks 1-30 and Picks 31 -50.

According to Alex Nelson of Mets Geek

“Magnifico has a great arm, quick, but he’s extremely raw. He can throw 97, but the fastball’s straight, and he has little projection, standing only six-foot one. On top of that, he has no secondary pitch to speak of. And on top of that, his command is a problem. What we’re probably talking about here is a total overhaul, a major project, and when you overhaul how a pitcher throws, there’s always a chance he walks away throwing softer than he used to. Given his lack of a track record, I’d walk away from this one.”

    And

“David Buchanan works with his fastball in the low-90s, has a good frame, and flashes a great curve that is quite inconsistent. I’ve also heard good things about his splitter, which gives him the potential for three average or better pitches. He does have command issues, and his mechanics do need some smoothing, especially regarding his timing. But the arm action is pretty clean, and I there are a couple obvious things that might improve his command.”

Why would a team “walk away”
from a guy they just drafted?

Apparently Baseball America called us losers of Draft signing day. More wonderful surprises for this organization, not. We paid the least amount of money to sign our draft picks and did not sign our 5th or 6th round picks.

So when the Wilpons say they are committed to fixing Buffalo and the minor league system, I guess that means more has beens and AAAA players because we cant sign our prospects and draft picks.

Our GM is supposed to be a minor league talent evaluator and good with prospects and we do a terrible job in the Draft.

We can overpay or blow money for players like Redding, Ollie, Cora ( who could of been had for cheaper, not his fault), Sullivan, Berroa and others, but players who have a future arent worth our money. LOL.
